I can do it. I follow the games anyway. Just to be certain, you are talking about the games this Sunday - May 10th?

dave, lollipopcurve does the Saturday games for Sunday. So it would be the games of Saturday, May 9, for our Sunday edition. (It's a little confusing this year because we don't have late Bakersfield games, which means that a lot of the MiLPoDs are getting posted the night of the games. When the Billings and Arizona schedules kick in, most of the posts will show up the following day.)

Re: Minor-League Player of the Day (2015)

Not a lot of really standout performances today, several good, not great lines. In the end it came down to Narciso Crook's homer, 2 hits and 2 RBI and Tim Adleman's 5 innings of 3 hit shutout ball with a nod also to Brian Hunter for another strong relief performance. I went with Crook, had Adleman gone 6 I'd have picked him.

Narciso Crook RF Dayton 2/5, 2 Runs, Homer, 2 RBI

    HITTING

    Bats:
Ryan LaMarre CF 2/5, run, double

    Jermaine Curtis 3B 2/4, 2 RBI

    Kyle Skipworth PH 1/1

    Ramon Cabrera C 1/4

Eugenio Suarez SS 1/3 climbing slowly, now at .231

    Y Rodriguez RF 1/4 (.233/.267/.349/.616)

    H Iribarren LF 2/4

    Tortugas:

    Alex Blandino SS 2/5, R, error (5) (.281/.364/.458/.822)

S Elizalde DH 2/4, R, RBI (.267/.279/.390/.670) he appears in the hitting list quite often, 2nd on the team in hits, but Sebastian's start is

    mildly disappointing

Chad Wallach 1B 2/4, RBI (.250/.295/.398/.692) Tim's scion is scuffling a bit but he had a good game today & leads team in doubles (7)

Carlton Daal 2B 2/4, error (1) (.244/.267/.256/.524) He ain't the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Ervin SP is higher than Carlton's OPS.

Taylor Sparks 3B 1/4, double (.247/.291/.371/.662) 10 errors at third so far. He and LaValley aren't threatening Flava Fraz at this rate.

Joe Hudson C 1/3, SH, GIDP (.273/.347/.455/.801) Love slash lines that staircase 100+ points left to right

Jeff Gelalich RF 1/4 (.241/.333/.276/.609) When your OBP is 60 points higher than your slugging? You might be a career minor leaguer...

Phillip Ervin CF-LF an 0-fer-4 has Ervin's BA crashing to .291, still early - a couple 0-fers or 3 hit games change stat lines big time (still at

    .291/.373/.553/.926)

    Blue Wahoos

Juan Perez SS game 1 1/4, double
    Juan Perez 2B game 2 1/4

    Ryan Wright 2B game 1 1/4
Ryan Wright PH game 2 1/1, RBI

Kyle Waldrop RF game 1 2/3, outfield assist(home plate), both hits the other way against the shift, nice to see

    S Mejias-Brean 3B game 1 1/2, walk

Beau Amaral CF game 1 1/3

Juan Silva CF game 2 1/3

Zach Vincej SS game 2 1/3, walk

Jesse Winker LF game 2 1/4

    Ray Chang 3B game 2 2/3, Run

    Dragons:
Ty Washington 2B 3/6, RBI, GIDP, .289 BA

    Jimmy Pickens LF 1/5

Gavin LaValley 3B 1/4, HBP, RBI

    Brian O'Grady 1B 1/3, triple, 2 walks

Luis Gonzalez SS 2/4, 2 Runs, walk

Narciso Crook RF 2/5, 2 Runs, Homer, 2 RBI

    J Reynoso CF 1/5, 2 Runs

    Blue Wahoos:

    Kevin Shackelford, RP 0.2 IP, 0 hits, 0 ER, 0 walks, 0 KO (7.56), game 1

    Timothy Adleman, SP 5.0 IP, 3 hits, 0 ER, 2 walks, 7 KO (2.03) game 2

    Kyle McMyne, RP 1.0 IP, 2 hits, 0 ER, 0 walks, 1 KO (H 3, 1.35) game 2

Zack Weiss, RP 0.1 IP, 0 hits, 0 ER, 0 walks, 1 KO (0.00) game 2, starting in Pensacola like he left Daytona - perfecto

Re: Minor-League Player of the Day (2015)

Back-to-back ho hum days down on the farms. Ryan Wright's three hits were in consideration as was Jacob Johnson three-inning, scoreless relief stint. Jonathan Reynoso's first home run of the season and two hits earned some consideration. And if we could erase Daniel Wright's first frame he wins hands down. But we are going with someone who 'filled the stat sheet' as they say.

    Thursday, May 7, 2015.

Jesse Winker, Pensacola....Winker did a little bit of everything and it was just enough to get him the nod. He reached base three times on a single, a walk, as well as being hit by a pitch. He stole his first base of 2015. He scored once and drilled a walk-off single with two outs in the bottom of the ninth in what happened to be the 100th home victory in the four years Pensacola has been around.

Ryan Wright, Pensacola - 3-5, 3 SGL, RS. Wright has been strong with the bat lately and is currently riding a nine-game hitting streak and has upped his average to .308.

    Seth Mejias-Brean, Pensacola - 1-3, SGL, BB, 2 RBI.

Ray Chang, Pensacola - 1-1, SGL. His pinch-hit single in the bottom of the ninth ignited the game-winning rally. It also extended his hitting streak to five games. Hitting .310.

Daniel Wright, Pensacola - His first inning was forgettable, so let's do that. His numbers over his final five frames: 5 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 8 K.

Jacob Johnson, Pensacola - 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, O BB, 2 K. Kept the opposition at bay until Blue Fish batsmen could push across the game-winner. Picked up his first victory of 2015.

Phillip Ervin, Daytona - 1-3, SGL, BB, RS. RBI. Ervin has been quiet lately. 'Tugas need his bat to heat up again.

Alex Blandino, Daytona - 2-4, 2 SGL, RBI.

Carlton Daal, Daytona - 2-3, 2 SGL, RS. Daal is batting a smoking .433 over his last nine games.

Nick Travieso, Daytona - 5 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 2 BB, 6 K. His defense let him down as all three runs were unearned. His ERA dropped to 2.94.

Ty Washington, Dayton - 1-3, SGL, BB, RS. A 43rd-round draft pick, Washington is OPSing .981 in his last nine games.

Ronald Bueno, Dayton - 2-3, SGL, DBL.

Brian O'Grady, Dayton - 1-3, SGL, BB, RBI.

Jonathan Reynoso, Dayton - 2-4, SGL, HR (1), RS, RBI.

Wendell Soto, Dayton - 2-2, 2 SGL, BB, RS. A former 3rd-round pick of the Angels, Soto is having a splendid first season in the Reds' organization. His .463 OBP and .913 OPS are worth keeping an eye on.

Alejandro Chacin, Dayton - 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K. The Mayor of Dayton faced the minimum six batters over his two innings on the mound.

Jacob Ehret, Dayton - 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K. Solid start to the 2015 season for the former Bruin from UCLA with 21 punchouts in 16 innings.

Ty Washington was a 43rd round pick, but did receive a $300K bonus to buy him out of his commitment to Oklahoma. Gives him a little more prospect credibility.

He's got a few tools to work with. Undersized, but there's enough there that he's a guy to watch.

What are your thoughts on Washington?

I've only been able to catch a couple games this season but I've been really impressed by what I've seen from him... he seems to have decent pop for a guy his size, has an idea of what he's doing at the plate and looks good defensively at 2b.

Re: Minor-League Player of the Day (2015)

Wyatt Strahan threw 5 no hit innings but walked 6 so I give POD honors to another pitcher, Josh Smith whose 5 shutout innings were assisted by a 1 for 2 night and an RBI. Honorable mention to Strahan.

    Josh Smith SP 5.0 IP, 2 hits, 0 ER, 0 BB, 5 KO, (W 3-1, 2.16) 62 pitches/46 strikes, 7/2 GO/FO, * also had a hit in 2 trips with an RBI

    Hitting
    Bats
    Ivan De Jesus 3B 1/4, .327

    Josh Satin 1B 1/4, double, .256

    Ramon Cabrera C 1/4, .275

    J Curtis DH 1/4, .250

    H Iribarren LF 2/2, double, walk, .323

    Tortugas
Phillip Ervin DH 1/4, run, double, .291

Alex Blandino SS 1/4, RBI, CS, .288

    Chad Wallach 1B 1/3, double, .253

    Joe Hudson C 1/3, double, RBI, .277

    Blue Wahoos
Juan Perez SS 1/4, RBI, .274

    Kyle Waldrop RF 2/4, .265

    Ray Chang 1B 1/3, run, .313

Beau Amaral CF 2/3, 2 runs, triple, SB, .169

Josh Smith P 1/2, RBI, .667 So far Josh has been like having a DH whenever he pitches

    Dragons
Wendell Soto DH 1/4, double, RBI, walk, .295

    Ty Washington 2B 2/5, double, .298

Brian O'Grady CF 1/4, run, homer, RBI, walk, .231

    G Boulware C 1/4, run, homer, RBI, .321

    J Reynoso RF 1/4, run, .286

Luis Gonzalez SS 1/4, triple, .238

    Pitching

    Bats
Raisel Iglesias SP 5.0 IP, 6 hits, 3 ER, 3 BB, 5 KO, gave up homer in 1st (& all 3 runs), (L 1-2, 3.80) nails after a rocky first

Donovan Hand RP 2.0 IP, 1 hits, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 KO, (1.32) my bet is he winds up with Reds sooner than later

Sam LeCure RP 1.0 IP, 0 hits, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 KO, (5.40) looking better of late

Ben Klimesh RP 1.0 IP, 0 hits, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 KO, (0.00) perfect start to AAA promotion - look for him on the Reds later on

    Tortugas
Sal Romano SP 6.2 IP, 8 hits, 1 ER, 1 BB, 5 KO, HBP, (W 3-1, 2.90) 9-3 GO/FO, Sal finally getting results that match his stuff

    Joel Bender RP 0.2 IP, 1 hits, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 KO, WP, (H 1, 2.89)

    El'Hajj Muhammad RP 1.1 IP, 0 hits, 0 ER, 1 BB, 0 KO, (H 4, 1.38)

Lefty Becker RP 0.1 IP, 1 hits, 0 ER, 0 BB, 0 KO, (S 1, 4.35) His name is Nolan but I like "Lefty" - maybe he'll go all Lefty Grove or even Lefty Gomez

    Blue Wahoos
    Josh Smith SP 5.0 IP, 2 hits, 0 ER, 0 BB, 5 KO, (W 3-1, 2.16) 62 pitches/46 strikes, 7/2 GO/FO, * also had a hit in 2 trips with an RBI

Zack Weiss RP 1.0 IP, 1 hit, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 KO, (S 1, 0.00) His promotion hasn't seemed to faze him in the least

Dragons (Brattvet gave up 3 unearned R and got the loss in 1.2 IP)
Wyatt Strahan SP 5.0 IP, 0 hits, 1 ER, 6 BB, 4 KO, (2.35) no hits against Wyatt but the 6 walks puts a damper on it

    Jeremy Kivel RP 1.0 IP, 1 hit, 0 ER, 2 BB, 3 KO, (5.91)

    Conor Krauss RP 1.1 OP, 0 hits, 0 ER, 1 BB, 0 KO, (1.80)

Re: Minor-League Player of the Day (2015)

Saturday, May 9th, 2015. (Quickie need to get ready for Mother's Day Brunch edition)

Five players merited strong consideration: Yorman Rodriguez, Jesse Winker, Tejay Antone, Jake Paulson and today's winner:

Wandy Peralta, Pensacola - Peralta bounced back from two sub-par outings and turned in a dandy pitching line to win MiPOTD honors. Milb now includes game scores for pitchers in their box scores. And Peralta's was an excellent 69. (Average start would be 50). He was very economical as well, throwing just 75 pitches in 7 innings of work. Final line for Peralta: 7 IP, 4 H, 1 RR, 0 BB, 4K.

    Louisville hitters:

Hernan Iribarren - SGL, BB, 2 RS.

    Irving Falu - 2-3, 2 SGL, 2 BB, 3 RS.

Ivan De Jesus, Jr. - 3-4, 3 SGL, BB, RS.

Josh Satin - 2-4, 2 SGL, SF, RS, 2 RBI.

Ramon Cabrera - SGL, RS, 2 RBI.

Chris Dominguez - 2 SGL, RS, 3 RBI.

Yorman Rodriguez - 2-4, DBL, HR (2), RS, 3 RBI.

Eugenio Suarez - 1-3, DBL, BB.

    Louisville pitchers:

    David Holmberg - 6.1 IP, 7 H, 1 R, 3 BB, 2 K.

Drew Hayes pitched 1.2 scoreless innings in relief.

    Pensacola hitters:

Beau Amaral - 2-4, SGL, DBL, RBI.

Jesse Winker - 2-3, SGL, DBL, BB, 2 RS, 2 SB.

Kyle Waldrop - 2-4, SGL, TPL, 2 RBI.

Ray Chang - DBL, SF, RS, RBI (modest 7-game hitting streak).

Yovan Gonzalez - 2-4, SGL, HR (1), RS, RBI.

    Pensacola pitchers:

Kevin Shackelford and Kyle McMyne each pitched a scoreless inning in relief.

    Daytona hitters:

Alex Blandino - 2-3, SGL, DBL, HBP.

    Taylor Sparks - 2-4, 2 SGL.

    Daytona pitchers:

I figured some would like to know why Amir Garrett wasn't listed as he only gave up 2 runs in 6 innings. Here is my reasoning. Each starting pitcher begins the game with a score of 50. That score is adjusted according to how he does in the game (very brief and poor explanation, I know). Garrett's game score, due to the fact that he gave up six hits, walked five and only struck out 1 (or maybe 2), was 48. He actually went backwards. So, there you have it. And, I guess in a way, Garrett was listed after all.

    Dayton hitters:

Ty Washington - SGL, BB, RS.

Gavin LaValley - SGL, HBP, RS.

Brian O'Grady - DBL, BB, RBI.

    Jonathan Reynoso - 2-4, 2 SGL.

    Dayton pitchers:

Tejay Antone - Antone's game score was 63. I wanted to give the award to him because of his 7 Ks and 0 BBs. But Peralta simply pitched better. Antone's run was unearned and his ERA dropped to 2.02. Final line: 6.0 IP, 7 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 7 K.

    Jake Paulson - 9 up and 9 down to earn his first save of the season. 3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K.
