    Re: Lorenzen's Debut This Wednesday

Michael Lorenzen led all major leaguer pitchers with 18 swings and misses yesterday.

Pitchers who induced the most swings and misses Wednesday:
    M. Lorenzen (18)
    D. Smyly (15)
    A. Cashner (14)
    D. Salazar (14)
    G. Cole (12)

I was impressed with his stuff. His 2 seamer had a lot of arm side run. He jammed the heck out of Segura on a 2 seamer. He also displayed a few very good changeups that had hitters well out in front. He's still rough around the edges but I think he's got a future at the top of the Reds rotation.

He was actually more polished looking than I expected, considering his paucity of innings pitched over the last year or so.

I think he will be a good pitcher in the Reds rotation for a long time. I just don't think it will be this year. Ideally he would've spent the year in AAA developing. Developing in MLB can be brutal.

I thought he looked good. His stuff seemed major league caliber, but he does need to work on the mental side of the game of working counts ect. However, it was also interesting on the midnight BBTN that they thought Barnhardt may beindavertently tipping pitches with they way he pounded the catchers mitt.

I was actually concerned that his homer may have murdered someone under the Smoke Stacks. That ball got out in about 2 seconds. Amazingly, Billy Hamilton was at the ball and made a leap at it. Just goes to show how blazingly fast Hamilton is, because I barely had time to blink that ball was in the stands so fast.

It seems he has good pitching genes, as he appears to be the long lost son of former MLB pitcher Don Mossi

Love his stuff. He's ready, brother.

10 ground outs to only 4 flyballs too.

I've always liked you, wheels, but you get a thumbs up for paucity.

Since there are no teams on the moon, I guess South Korea's far enough from Cincinnati to satisfy me.

    lorenzen

He pitched a good game last night, and got his first win. He located well and kept the ball down for most of the evening. Between disco and lorenzen there is a shimmer of light with the newest additions to the starting rotation. There is hope.

If this year somehow ends with Lorenzen (okay he'll have reached his innings limit), Iglesias, Disco and Stephenson (I know) all pitching well in bigs for the first 3 and in AAA for Stephenson then I will consider this year a success. As you will have built a long-term rotation foundation.

They will undoubtedly go through some growing pains but with Disco, Lorenzen, and Iglasias, the future looks pretty good for our young pitching staff. I still have hope that Cingrani makes it back to the rotation eventually too. Effective, young pitching is very very bueno.

Last night was the first time I'd really seen him pitch. There will be growing pains, of course, but I really like his stuff. Pretty excited.
