Contreras and Hand up, Boesch down

Reds Media Relations ‏@RedsPR 5m5 minutes ago
Reds promote pitchers Carlos Contreras (#53) and Donovan Hand (#51), option to Lou Boesch, disable Moscot, transfer Cozart to 60-day DL.

Hello Mr. Hand, goodbye Mr. Boesch.
"Since I've been with the Reds in 1989, we've never had a farm system this loaded," Bowden said. "If we were the New York Yankees and had unlimited dollars, we could have traded for Colon, (Jeff) Weaver, Rolen, (Cliff) Floyd, (Kenny) Rogers and Finley and gotten them all -- and still held onto our top five prospects. That's an amazing statement."

At least the Reds aren't left short *ahem* Handed in the bullpen.

Still, don't the Reds need another OFer?

Concerning Boesch, I will never, ever again be fooled by spring training numbers.

    Until next year.

    Back of the envelope math....

Reds have had 113 players on their 40-man roster at one point or another this season.

    Great post, funny, thanks.

So Reds are back up to 13 pitchers. When Moscot's turn comes up, Reds will either make Hand the starter or will send someone out and bring up Holmberg or Smith. I guess Pedro V could start.

Bench (assuming Schu as starting LFer) is now Dominguez, Negron, Barnhart, and DeJesus.

    Wild season.

Hand will stay with club for a while. If all you do is want to win ....when you bring up your Hand........they stay there.
The lowest acceptable payroll amount for ownership to show they are not greedy pigs is 15 million more than they are currently paying. No matter what that currently is.

Reminds of the Steelers' season a few years ago where they were using kids barely out of high school or something to play cornerback.

Of course, not having 9 freakin' pitchers in the bullpen might help with that matter, but still.

Do you think when Hand strikes someone out he stands on the mound and yells "TALK TO THE HAND"?

I don't know but if he can't strike them out, the defense better give him one

Yea, and now that we know Mes won't be joining the club, if we're sticking with 4 bench players could we just send Dominguez back down now and get Falu up instead? Is that a move that's too hard to see? Or Yorman? Or Satin?

I agree. Falu would be the obvious choice. Yorman at some point later on.
