Finishes his career where it started?

it will be minor league righty Yhonathan Barrios and cash considerations heading to Milwaukee in exchange for Ramirez.

July 23, 2003: Traded by the Pittsburgh Pirates with Kenny Lofton and cash to the Chicago Cubs for a player to be named later, Matt Bruback (minors) and Jose Hernandez. The Chicago Cubs sent Bobby Hill (August 15, 2003) to the Pittsburgh Pirates to complete the trade.

How on earth has it been 12 years since he was traded to the Cubs? I thought it was 4 or 5. Where has all that time gone? I am old.

Getting old...happens to the best of us.

Look at that trade, though. Three "prospects" who didn't amount to much for two established major leaguers in a near deadline deal. Something to think about.

Barrios is a 30+ prospect. The Pirates really didnt give up much at all. More about the $ it seems.

Id wager that had far more to do with the pirates incompetence over 20ish years..

Actually, it was for two prospects and this guy http://www.baseball-reference.com/pl...ernajo01.shtml one year removed from an All-Star appearance. But, yeah, he never amounted to anything in a Pirates uniform, either.

One month later, the Pirates would deal Brian Giles and fare much better.

August 26, 2003: Traded by the Pittsburgh Pirates to the San Diego Padres for a player to be named later, Jason Bay and Oliver Perez. The San Diego Padres sent Cory Stewart (minors) (October 2, 2003) to the Pittsburgh Pirates to complete the trade.
