Idris Elba as. . . Roland Deschain?

I like this. Clint Eastwood is a bit old, so I'd rather not see a clone. Who could do strong and quiet any better?

I thought surely this would suck, but maybe not? Elba would be fantastic.

I think he could carry a franchise fairly well. I was hoping for Hugh Jackman though.

The issue with the Gunslinger series is its ending.

It's the biggest letdown since Hamlet 2: Gertrude's Revenge.

Love him, but don't think so in this role.

Championships for MY teams in my lifetime:
    Cincinnati Reds - 75, 76, 90
    Chicago Blackhawks - 10, 13, 15
    University of Kentucky - 78, 96, 98, 12

I liked the ending (at least Roland's part), but then again I also thought the Lost finale was appropriate as well.

btw, can I recommend Orson Scott Card's novella "Hamlet's Father"? Talk about an absolute twist that changes everything!

I threw the book across the room.

I tried to get into the novels but they never grabbed me. In fact, the only two King novels I actually enjoy are The Stand (and I know the connection with the Gunslinger novels) and the Green Mile.

Elba is amazing. Starred in 2 of my perhaps my top 2 favorite shows ever: Luther and The Wire
