Thing is... he's not wrong. I would say Elba's snub has to do with both race and Netflix. Doesn't have to be an either/or.
Are Netflix movies eligible for Oscars? I thought there was a theater requirement.

It was screened in the main competition section of the 72nd Venice International Film Festival,[5][6] where it won the Marcello Mastroianni Award.[7]

The film was shown in the Special Presentation section of the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival,[8] and released on Netflix globally and in a limited release by Bleecker Street on October 16, 2015.[9]
Made $90,700 in box office sales.

In a word, yes, as long as they have SOME big screen presence (which they mostly do).

It isn't empty on my screen... it's a video of Chris Rock at the BET Awards. Strange.

Crawl back under your rocks Spike Lee and Al Sharpton. You want more representation....make better films and produce better writers, directors, actors, etc.
This is so far from the truth I don't even know what to say. Let's start with the fact that a nominee from any of the diverse groups you mention (other than perhaps West Virginians) would be embraced by this cause. Though it is driven by black members of the industry, it is about lack of diversity overall, not just a lack of African Americans.

Anyway, that's the last I will say on this here. There's a thread on the P&R forum for debate if you'd like to pursue it.

Okay; I hadn't realized it had been released in theaters.

I'm surprised it didn't make more since it played in a theater here in Indianapolis...
