Surprised they are sending a high school kid straight to Billings. That bodes well I guess.

All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

Billings is the place to be.
Six legitimate prospects in the Pioneer League, plus all those upside picks from last season.

I'm excited about Trammell. I know he's not the top prospect or anything, but he's a guy who could be fun to watch develop. And if everything goes well, he could really be something.
I'm going full-Jimbo here.

I don't think that you're wrong to be excited. Again, I think he compares very favourably to Moniak but is more raw. The type of athlete he is combined with his seeming maturity (according to many sources, as well as his very high GPA) and his feel for baseball (advanced feel at the plate already, great fielder) bodes well for him. It's hoping for proper development, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if he were actually our best player from this draft when it's all said and done.

Can't forget that Trammel wasn't a baseball only guy in HS. One of the best running backs in Georgia last year. Excited to see what the ceiling is for him now that baseball will be his only focus.

With the concussion issue coming to light in football, plus the average length of a football player's career, Trammell definitely made the right choice.

Crazy, fun, and wild prediction: Taylor Trammell develops into the best player from the 2016 draft. Not just the Reds draft, the whole draft. He's got plus tools across the board, aside from his throwing arm. His plate approach is said to be advanced considering he was a two sport superstar in high school. Now that he's focusing on baseball only, he could really take off as we saw with Amir Garrett. Difference being, Trammell is much younger.
I've been following the MLB draft since 2001. This is easily the most excited I've been about a Reds draft. I loved the Todd Frazier and Kyle Lotzkar picks in the 2007 draft, but I don't recall being thrilled about drafting a high school catcher in the first round (Mesoraco). That draft also netted Cozart. I think I'm the high man around here on Senzel - during his peak I view him as a .300/.380/.500 guy with above average defense and 25 HR.
I also think Chris Okey was a great pick who could be a starting catcher at the big league level. He's got power, plate discipline, and will stick behind the plate. Kudos to Buckley and his staff on a great draft.
Agree that Trammell could end up as a transformational pick- I could see him as a faster, better Mike Cameron. Or a heftier Eric Davis with more foot speed but less bat speed.
Go BLUE!!!
Wow, was not expecting it to cost double the slot value to sign Trammel, but I'm really excited to watch him pitch and don't really care much about most of the pitchers drafted.
