I'm as anti-dh as they come. I love the cadence of having that near-automatic out in the lineup.

I'm a fan of the different rules between leagues. Adds intrigue to me. We still have a playing field with a hill on it in MLB. Unique situations driven by non-uniformity appeals to me.

    Some "advantage."

I can believe that the NL is at a disadvantage during the regular season when enough games are played in AL parks.
I don't really CARE if that's the case. It doesn't really bother me. I don't think that balancing the leagues is a goal.

I'm more bothered by the wild cards being decided when teams are not playing balanced schedules.

It's not going away, so you may as well put it in both leagues.
That may be but if that's the case the NL would be more attractive for pitchers since they are ostensibly only facing 8 hitters. So it probably evens out.

    Agreed.

To that end, I wouldn't mind if interleague play disappeared, or was drastically reduced; neither are likely to happen. In that case, to mitigate the AL home field advantage, I've read about the following idea that's been kicked around for interleague play:

NL rules, at least for two games out of a three game series, in AL parks, and vice versa. I doubt that it would make a difference in, say, Coors Field, though.

Realistically, the chances of the DH eliminated in MLB are slimmer than slim, so I view maintaining the status quo as a better option than shoving the DH down the NL's figurative throat.

Designated Hitter In National League Gaining Momentum:

The use of designated hitters in the National League is inching closer to becoming reality, MLB commissioner Rob Manfred said Thursday.

Following the quarterly owners’ meeting Thursday, Manfred indicated that progress has been made on an issue that has been hotly debated for decades.

"I think that is a continuing source of conversation among the ownership group, and I think that the dialogue actually probably moved a little bit,” Manfred said.

It needs to happen. It gives way too much of an advantage to the AL teams.

I'd rather see interleague play go away. The cool thing about baseball as compared to other pro sports was that there were two distinct major leagues. Made the World Series even more special.

Well, I think it would help with the Joey Votto situation. Suddenly it would be much less of an issue with his inevitable decline if he could DH most of the time for the remainder of his contract.

Unify the rules, the way they were for 70+ years.

This is where I'm at. I prefer baseball without it, but if interleague play isn't going away, things need to be unified.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

If it (the DH) is, indeed, inevitable, I'm hoping that it happens soon for the Votto situation alone.
