Today Fangraphs released their updated top 10 prospects for the NL Central. Not a bad list for the most part. I am quite surprised Greene jumped Senzel for #1.

Luis Castillo - the most underrated prospect in baseball.

I dunno, Alfredo Rodriguez in the top ten invalidates it for me...

Surprised to see him behind Mahle. Figured he is 3 or 4 depending on Trammell's placement.

Aquino and Rodriguez but no Siri? I guess they haven't looked at 2017 results? Shouldn't Aquino fall out of the top 10 being 23 and backsliding as badly as he has in AA this year?

    Not for long:

Fiddling with the fastball mix and establishing better command of the sinker — that may be the only thing between Luis Castillo and ace-hood.

But yeah - I still can't believe that he's being ranked where he's being ranked by, well, everyone. Have they even watched him pitch in 2017?

Fangraphs just released their updated top 100 for the summer. Reds include:

    23. SP Greene
    24. 3B Senzel
    70. OF Trammel
    85. SP Mahle

    Others considered:
    SP Castillo
    2B Long
    OF Winker
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

Castillo...OTHERS CONSIDERED...get out of here. I get there are questions about his 3rd pitch. But I can't see any justification for placing him behind Mahle at this point. Or behind a guy like Sandy Alcantara who is a big arm with control issues who likely ends up in the pen due to lack of a 3rd offering. He seems like Castillo without the big league success. Nice to see Trammell get some love.

Senzel outside the top 10 let alone the top 20 would invalidate this list by itself, but Castillo not a top 100 guy? Psshhaw

    Senzel at 24 is insanity.

Fangraphs just took a huge negative hit in my eyes.

Castillo not being in the top 100 is absolutely insane at this point, given where he currently is and what he is currently doing...

Their prospect stuff has been a mess with Kiley McDaniel left, I still read them but I don't give them much stock.
I dont care, Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. Hes in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.

I imagine the gap between Kopech and Senzel (9 to 24) is probably very little. You could reorganize that group in nearly any order and have an argument for it. So while seeing Senzel at 24 seems low, he's probably not far off #9.
