Yes. I would like a couple of shots at a LT with a higher floor than Ogbuehi.

    Re: 2017 Bengals Off-season

With the Bengals o-line as it is, this season will not be pretty.

Dalton will go down, it's a matter of "when".

I doubt McCarron will do any better. Might as well deal him for a 1 if you can get him. Then once Dalton goes down, play for a #1 pick and new head coach.
    When it's a seller's market, you sell.
    When it's a buyer's market, you buy.

Why is this concept so difficult to understand?

    Re: 2017 Bengals Off-season

    From Rotoworld with Rotoworld comments:

MMQB's Albert Breer reports the Bengals turned down a second-round pick for A.J. McCarron this offseason.

This appears to have been before the Broncos were -- erroneously if John Elway is to be believed -- linked with McCarron this week. Breer thinks it would take "a blow-em-away deal" to make Cincinnati move McCarron, who is still under team control for two years. It sounds like the quarterback will spend at least another season with the Bengals.

    Re: 2017 Bengals Off-season

    From Rotoworld with Rotoworld comments:

The Cincinnati Enquirer's Jim Owczarski believes Jeremy Hill will "start all season" unless he "is injured or is absolutely terrible."

Hill has been mostly terrible since his rookie season, so that is a possibility. Still, ESPN's Katherine Terrell also expects Hill to open the season as the starter, and the fourth-year player was listed as the lead back on the first depth chart. As Owczarski's writes, it does not particularly matter who starts, but Hill is not going to get the opening snap and then disappear, limiting the available touches for second-rounder Joe Mixon. We should get a clearer picture of the situation during the preseason, but as of now, Mixon needs to be bumped down draft boards a few spots.

The Cincinnati Enquirer knows the exact same amount as anyone who attends camp every day, i.e. not much. It's not as if Marvin Lewis tells them anything.

Yeah. At this point whoever starts is whoever starts. No point in trying to play it out before the first preseason game has started.

MJ is a joke. He hasn't belonged in the NFL for years. Why give him snaps to waste? Willis should be starting and practicing with all the first team reps. MJ looked like a clown Friday Night, worse than his 104th out of 108 ranking of DE's from last year.

He was but I'm concerned about the first team. Dalton looked rusty, Dennard got picked on by Winston.

There were some bright spots though. Mixon could be special but I wouldn't be surprised to see Marvin ride Jeremy Hill as well even if he struggles (Law Firm). I liked what I saw from Josh Malone but with the depth at wideout he's likely practice squad material.

    Re: 2017 Bengals Off-season

Malone wouldn't survive the practice squad. They'll need an injury, to cut Erickson, ir carry 7 WR's.

Dennard looked terrible. Definitely a concern. He won't be starting Week 1, yet alone challenging for even Starting Nickel duties (though that's Iloka's while they move another to Safety) anytime this season. On the positive, he'll be cheap to resign, if they don't let him go. He has fundamental flaws. Hopefully, he'll improve as the year goes on, and fir goodness sakes, stay healthy. He was laying on the ground again with an injury before getting up.

Shaw should get Nickel duties, while WJIII gets Dime and Starts against Baltimore.

Hill looks like he finally got his wakeup call. He wasn't dancing in the backfield trying to hit a homerun which has made him a bust the last two seasons. It's his attitude that keeps him from succeeding, as he has the skillset. He may yet earn himself 180-200 touches this season and most of the work inside the 10.

It's nice to have one of the Top-10 QB's in the NFL in Dalton. His quick release, and Driskel and AJ have learned to get rid of it quickly, too, will disdipate the damage done by Bodine and Ogbuehi. Everyone else on the O-Line will do fine, as long as Andre Smith isn't a member. It was a joke last week when Paul Alexander said that, "The best guys play". Hogwash. That's never been the case in Cincinnati, and it's obviously not this year, either. Three Coaches,... Carroll, Zimmer and Belichick,... play the best players regardless if who the Owner or GM likes, how much they get paid, or where they were drafted. Everyone else is just like Marvin and Mike,...playing inter-offuce games based on everything other than production on the field. Paul Alexander is as big of a joke on this as anyone as his pet project, Girlychick, got three years of Carson's prime years to waste as the Starting Center,...probably another reason Palmer was glad to leave.

    Re: 2017 Bengals Off-season

The Bengals' D-Line will have their ears pinned back for the opener.

    From Rotoworld with Rotoworld comments:

James Hurst has taken over as the Ravens' starting left guard.

The Ravens signed Austin Howard to replace Hurst at right tackle, but Hurst is going to stay in the starting lineup following LG Alex Lewis' year-ending shoulder injury. From left to right, Baltimore's offensive line reads LT Ronnie Stanley, LG Hurst, C Ryan Jensen, RG Marshal Yanda, and RT Howard. The Ravens have lost LG Lewis, C Jeremy Zuttah, and RT Rick Wagner from last year's line.

    Re: 2017 Bengals Off-season

A seemingly very small move on April 11th looks like a steal at the moment.

    From Hobson:

    http://www.bengals.com/news/article-...8-6dd8bf6959bb

"But suddenly he’s gone from life support to the life of the party. Smith may be a very hard guy to keep off the Opening Day roster if the opener is any indication. From the time he got on the field in the middle of the second quarter with the second group, he was a blur. Not to mention the Profootballfocus.com Player of the Game with six quarterback pressures on his 32 snaps."

Chris Smith, acquired from Jacksonville for a conditional 2018 pick, is another edge rusher lighting up camp, along with Carl Lawson and Jordan Willis. It would be a crime if Gilberry and/or Michael Johnson make the team over Smith.

The Bengals, coming off a season where they were 6th in the NFL in pressures-per-dropback, are perceived around the league and by themselves as lacking in the ability to get to the Quarterback. That's because Atkins and Dunlap were great, while Peko, MJ, Gilberry and Sims were terrible, Sims not as bad as the other three.

Subtract Peko, Gilberry and MJ's snaps and give them to Billings, Smith, Lawson (who will rush from a LB spot occasionally) and Willis, and Cincinnati could easily lead the NFL in QB pressure-per-snap. If the Coverage could improve, as they should with Minter, Shaw and WJIII getting snaps over Dennard, Dansby, Jones and Maualuga, the combination could and should lead to a lot of turnovers.

It's sad that Hobson counts Michael Johnson as a lock as it's Starter. He's sucking up to somebody on this one the same way he would praise Peko.

ProfootballFocus' Fantasy Preview of the Bengals, complete with 2016 PFF Grades of every starter listed on the current depth chart. It's full of relevant non-fantasy information.

    https://www.profootballfocus.com/new...innati-bengals

"A.J. Green missed the final six games last season, but up to that point he was an elite fantasy option. Through the first 10 weeks of the season, only three wide receivers had more fantasy points than Green: Julio Jones, Antonio Brown, and Mike Evans. Green is no stranger to elite-level fantasy production with top-10 finishes in 2012, 2013, and 2015. Perhaps the one concern for Green last season was his minimal use in the end zone. He saw just five end-zone targets after averaging nearly one per game in 2015. Regardless, Green is still an extremely strong fantasy option who should be considered as one of the first wide receivers selected in this year’s drafts."

What's he talking about? The next play after a TD is the PAT
