His swing remained the same. Friedl didn’t want to change anything with his hands, nor he did he wish to alter a bat path he described as being “level through the zone.” Recognizing that he’s not built for power, Friedl stays gap-to-gap and is careful not to swing too hard. From time to time he’ll take things a step further and go an even-softer route.

“Bunting is kind of a lost art in the big leagues,” said Friedl. “Hardly anyone does it anymore — everybody is trying to hit for power — but it’s one of the biggest parts of my game. Speed is my go-to — I can lay one down and beat it out — plus it gives me something to take out of my back pocket when I’m not seeing the ball well. That’s something I learned in college; if you’re feeling rushed or antsy, you can always bunt. Staying back and seeing the ball hit the bat helps slow things down for you.”
I think I love this kid.

A Brett Butler type ceiling? That would work.

The antithesis of Billy Hamilton. That's of course assuming TJ can become a Bett Butler like starting, major league talent.

The lowest acceptable payroll amount for ownership to show they are not greedy pigs is 15 million more than they are currently paying. No matter what that currently is.

He doesn't need homer power, gap to gap doubles power with a few triples tossed in would be fine.
And I think he'll have 10-15 HR power as he matures. The GAB will help in that regard. Friedl's the prospect on whom I'm the most bullish (where I value him compared to where he ranks on industry lists). I think he's got a real shot to be an everyday leadoff CF, the kind you actually want leading off.

I'm going with left-handed Phil Bradley for where T.J. might be headed.

Awesome. First question: is he zeroing in on mistakes fastballs, or is he hitting curves and off speed pitches as well?

When he gets into a streak like this it seems like he must be seeing the ball well. This is where Doug helps.

Agreed. I'm hoping he's taken a step forward and is hitting those non-fastballs. That would bode very well.
