    Re: Friday 4/14/17 MiLB games

Dayton (7-2) is struggling offensively, but keeps on winning. The 2-0 victory lengthens their streak to 7 games.

Ryan Olson has pledged not to give up an earned run all year. After 2 starts, so far, so good. Olson twirled a complete-game shutout, on a Madduxian 91 pitches. 9 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 3 K. ERA - 0.00. Game Score - 87. Fabulous.

The Dragons could only muster 1 hit in their 2-run rally. But it was enough. Bell walked. Friedl walked. Trammell walked. And then Tyler Stephenson lace a two-run single. Game, set and match.

    Re: Friday 4/14/17 MiLB games

Louisville (4-5) wins their second contest in a row, 5-3. Thank you, Mr. Ervin.

Lisalverto Bonilla was mediocre tonight. 6 Ks in 5.1 inning being the positive that he will take away from the game.
Bats bullpen followed up with 3.2 innings worth of goose eggs (<--cheesy Easter reference).
Evan Mitchell worked 1.2 of them, and his ERA remains spotless at 0.00.
Kevin Shackelford gave the fans a little excitement by walking the bases loaded with two outs, but wriggled out of that jam by getting a fly ball to center.

Seth Mejias-Brean rapped out 2 hits to reach the .400 mark.
Phillip Ervin jacked a pair of 2-run blasts (2/3), and drove in all 4 runs.

On a down note: Dilson Herrera took a size-5 collar, and is now batting out on the interstate at .188.

The Tortugas trail 6-zip heading into the ninth.

A fairly close contest was broken open when Vladimir Guerrero allowed a 4-spot in the fifth.
Stop me if you have heard this one before. Daytona's bullpen worked a scoreless 4.1 innings.
Tanner Rainey might just strike out every batter he faces in 2017. Or close to it. Tanner breezed through a 1-2-3 ninth, striking out 3 on just 12 pitches. He has retired 13 of the 15 batters he has faced to date, while allowing neither a hit or a walk. Cumulative MiPOTD?

Sweet, LaValley, Senzel and our main-man Chadwick Tromp all singled. Shed Long drew a couple of free passes.

It is going into the bottom of the ninth, six to tie, 7 to walk-off winners.

Narciso Crook doubled with two outs. So, you're saying there's a chance?

CORRECTION: Crook has a double and a single tonight. Tromp is hitless.

It's gone final at Jackie Robinson Stadium - Daytona falls 6-0. Their record slides to 5-4.

Tanner Rainey just struck out the side again. That's 15 batters faced this season - he's retired all 15 and 13 have been via the strikeout.

It would be nice to see Senzel tear it up and move to Pensacola quickly, then be ready to join the Reds some time next season, but it's great they have Suarez and the luxury of not rushing Nick.

Pensacola trails 6-2 as the game slogs along in the sixth.

Keury Mella could not survive his typical slow start tonight, surrendering 5 runs in less than 2 innings on the mound.

Both of the Blue Wahoos runs were unearned.
Josh Van Meter doubled home both runs.
Brian O'Grady has reached in all three plate appearances, a single and 2 walks. His OBP is up over .400.
Gabriel Guerrero has stroke a pair of singles.

Nothing much happened the rest of the game, and Pensacola is scathed 6-2. They are 5 up and 3 down.

    Another good night for the pens: 15.1 IP, 7 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 5 BB, 10 K.

Daytona relievers set down all 13 batters that they faced.

Olson allowed only one walk and all four hits against him were singles. He struck out three while getting three double play balls and facing only one batter over the minimum. He threw only 91 pitches. Olson retired the last 13 batters of the game.

Ray Chang represented China in the 2017 World Baseball Classic. The team was eliminated from 1st Round Pool play with 3 losses. Chang retired from professional baseball after the tournament and accepted a job to run a baseball camp in China.
    Best of luck, Mr. Chang.
