Jacksonville. Last chance to get on board before the turnaround.
The lowest acceptable payroll amount for ownership to show they are not greedy pigs is 15 million more than they are currently paying. No matter what that currently is.

Until they pack up for London or Toronto or Mexico City.

Hate to to tell you this. Jaguars ain't going nowhere. Just think about this: in the last couple years, THREE teams have moved or been approved to move (Rams, Chargers and Raiders). Notice that the Jaguars are not on that list. And you never hear any real informed journalists suggest it any more either. Because the Jags owner in conjunction with the city is making massive investments in the stadium complex, and the surrounding area.

Hopefully you know that we now have the largest scoreboards in the WORLD. (About 33% bigger than Jerry's). We have swimming pools. We now have massive luxury plazas on both sides of the stadium built in 2016. Just Friday night, the latest addition opened: the Jags just built a $45 million dollar amphitheater/indoor practice field complex attached to Everbank. The next time you see an aerial shot of Everbank it will look quite different.

Shad Khan's company (Iguana Investments) has just been given the contract to develop a large tract of open land just across the street from the south end of Everbank along the banks of the St John's River (which flows North BTW). It's a very big area than runs 9 or 10 blocks. Used to be docks in the old days. Now going to become entertainment/business center. Hotels, offices restaurants, aquarium etc.

I'm actually somewhat surprised the Jaguars haven't tried holding Jacksonville hostage for a new stadium instead of renovating. Seems like that's what all the teams are doing anymore anyways.

In many cases/places it seems the team/city relationship is adversarial. The relationship under Shad Khan truly seems like a partnership. He's doing everything he can to make Jacksonville and the Jaguars both succeed. He knows Jax can't afford a billion dollar stadium.

So it's kind of interesting to watch the incremental transformation. He's only been here 4 years. And since then it's been 1 project a year. So far he re-did all the locker room and workout areas that are supposedly about the best in the NFL. Then he upgraded the sound system and lights, then the pools/cabanas. The scoreboards. Last year they converted the side areas into luxury plazas that retreat back into stadium. This year it was the Amphitheater and practice field.

So it doesn't appear there are plans to build a new stadium. But somehow transform it bit by bit into a new stadium. They are big thinkers, and outside the box thinkers. And it's about time to start talking about what is next. So I'm waiting.

What I'm wondering is if they can figure out a way to enclose it. It gets hot here.

Ted Ginn is going to excel with a real Quarterback throwing him the ball.

Ginn is a little long in the tooth now. He excels are running north/south, not much east/west. It takes him a little bit of time to get moving, but once he does there are few who are faster. His hands also leave a lot to be desired. I think he is a KR/PR, and maybe a speed outside WR, but excelling in NO, I doubt it.

Jeremy Maclin released by the Chiefs.

Why not add him to Tom Brady's arsenal of Mike Gillislee, James White, Dion Lewis, Rex Burkhead, Julien Edelman, Brandin Cooks, Chris Hogan, Rob Gronkowski and Dwayne Allen.

He could carve out 65 catches for 1000 yards and 8 TD's, even battling for touches among this elite group.

Pairing up the best Quarterback in the history of the NFL at leading a Receiver to yards after the catch is a match made in heaven for Maclin.

Or we could maybe hope and pray someone else wins the Super Bowl.

Now, Eric Decker is available after word is he will be released in the next week. They could have traded him, but nobody is going to pay the $14M salary now. Jets released David Harris today and are in full-fledge tank mode.

Sheldon Richardson could be had for a 4th or 5th Rd pick now. Wish Mike Brown for once in his life would be proactive and go get Richardson.

Great pickup during a period teams find it difficult to make an impact move.

    From Rotoworld with Rotoworld comments:

Ravens signed WR Jeremy Maclin to a two-year contract.

ESPN's Josina Anderson reported Maclin’s final decision was between Baltimore and Philadelphia after it appeared Buffalo was a strong contender. Maclin had his most disappointing season in 2016, registering career lows in receptions (3.7) and yards (44.7) per game with just two touchdowns as he dealt with a groin injury. Maclin will contend for the Ravens' target lead, and his slot experience gives him an edge on perimeter-only receivers Mike Wallace and Breshad Perriman. Maclin ran a career-high 48 percent of his routes from the slot in 2016. Maclin carried a double-digit-round ADP before signing with the Ravens, who are missing a league-high 345 targets from last year. Expect his ADP to rise into the sixth-/seventh-round range. While Wallace loses upside but can stay relevant, Perriman takes the biggest fantasy hit.

    Decker was released Monday.

If the Ravens land him after getting Maclin, they will have had the best off-season of all of the AFC North teams.

New Orleans leads the pack in "We got screwed by injuries in the Off-season" race. Minnesota won it last season in Secretariat fashion.

    From Rotoworld with Rotoworld comments:

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Saints LT Terron Armstead will undergo surgery to repair a torn labrum on Monday.

Lions LT Taylor Decker suffered a similar injury last week. Both are expected to miss 4-6 months. Injuries have dogged Armstead throughout his career including last season when knee and hip ailments limited him to just seven games. It's a big loss for Drew Brees and the entire Saints offense. First-round rookie Ryan Ramczyk is the leading in-house candidate to replace Armstead on the blind side.

NFC South defensive ends are licking their chops already. I'm sure Ramczyk is really good, but I seriously doubt he's ready for that role yet.
There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there always has been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that “my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge." -- Isaac Asimov
