    RIP George Romero

He basically invented the modern zombie genre. Without him there's no Walking Dead, 28 Days Later, Return of the Living Dead or any other zombie based horror film. Stephen King even listed him as his all time favorite collaborator.

RIP George, thanks for all the scares.

Championships for MY teams in my lifetime:
    Cincinnati Reds - 75, 76, 90
    Chicago Blackhawks - 10, 13, 15
    University of Kentucky - 78, 96, 98, 12
    Chicago Bulls - 91, 92, 93, 96, 97, 98

Yeah, but I liked him anyway. I loved the starkness of his original Night of the Living Dead.

Okay, I actually liked that one. I'm just zombied out. I'm told this before I'm sure, but the last straw for me was when a fifth grade student, responding to a question about whose side he would take in the Boston Massacre (responding to the Paul Revere propaganda piece; in fairness, I was subbing and this wasn't my lesson) wrote that he would be on the side of the zombies. When I told him there were no zombies, he said that I said there were. I said there were dead people, and dead people were zombies.

People talking about the zombie apocalypse as if it were a possibility kind of drives me insane as well. But none of that was George Romero's fault.

    You're dead to me.

Also, the score for that movie is probably my favorite score of all time.

Yes, love them. Not very good.

My wife and kid have never forgiven me...and I can't blame them.

    Terrible.

Mine is The Third Man. Zither music rocks.

    Sorry; off topic.

But, you're right. I do need to watch more movies. That's what the winter is for. During the baseball season I barely have time to watch 30 minute tv shows.

My dad is a toy collector and has this weird old mini "The Third Man" Zither.

It's pretty cool, sounds creepy as heck.

This is it. Good movie, I have it on VHS!

Eh, you know I'm giving you grief. Like what you like.

Music scores rarely speak to me. Other than maybe Porky's Revenge.

Hahaaa, Porky's! I grew up with those movies, they are such oddities. They definitely do not make movies like those anymore.

As for your like what you like comment...

I recently started listening to a podcast called We Hate Movies and they have over 300 episodes where they spend a lot of time ripping on bad movies. While doing so they often say "it's OK to like movies!" And it's really true. Like, I am fully aware Demolition Man is bad movie, but dang it, it entertains the crap out of me. It's OK to like it!

Demolition Man is what I call a "fun watch." I go into movies like that not expecting The Godfather, and because of that I get a lot more out of them than if I was just watching them as serious movies.

Also, thanks for the mention of WHM. I've been looking for a good movies podcast for awhile now and that's the one. Listened to my first episode today and really like it.
