A line of 240/300/425 would be enough for Siri to provide as much value as Hamilton currently, IMO. (And reason to deal Hamilton or decide to let him go via free agency.)

That's not to say he doesn't have warts. The BB rate is one red flag; his age level is another. A 22-year-old with the talent he owns should lay waste to low A. He should be pushed to High A for the rest of the season, IMO, then begun at AA next year. Assuming, of course, he shows his last two seasons are legitimate. That he's not been pushed suggests, to me, that he's likely being shined up for a trade.
According to baseball reference he's young for the Midwest League:

    https://www.baseball-reference.com/r...d=siri--000jos

They show his age as -0.2 for that level.

He's not old for the league - but he's not young, either. Lots of 19 and 20-year-olds in that league. In fact, there are 76 players in the league this year under age 21 with at least 100 at-bats. Siri just turned 22 (but is in his age 21 season).

Exactly. So if he's not old for the league why "should he lay waste to the league"?

You're asking me to answer something that I never said.... so, I'm not going to.

Is Siri getting enough credit outwith the Reds for this streak?

I'm fine if he doesn't get too much pub. Let's keep it low key

I'm asking you to comment on something someone else wrote but it's fine if you decide not to. Your comments on the Midwest League were dead on but I knew all that already. My point was that given that Siri is not old for that league, it makes little sense for someone to say that he should lay waste to it. To that you posted information, albeit accurate, that was already widely known.

They've been bringing it up each day during the Reds broadcasts on TV, so at the very least he's getting publicity for it.

    Re: A Jose Siri Thread

Some info here that some may find interesting. Sorry if some of this has previously been posted: Interesting that he is batting .462 on balls in play during the 35 games and that he has not gone later than the 5th inning before getting a hit in the last 14 games.

Siri’s Streak: Jose Siri has an active 35-game hitting streak that began with the first game of the second half on June 22. This is tied for the longest hitting streak in the history of the Midwest League. Waterloo’s Tony Toups hit in 35 straight games in 1977. Siri is batting .350 with 13 home runs and 29 RBI, 10 doubles, 3 triples, and a .701 slugging percentage during the streak. Siri is batting .462 on balls in play during the streak (55 for 119; he has 38 strikeouts in 157 at-bats). Siri has not gone beyond the fifth inning without a hit since July 14 (14 straight games with a hit within the first five innings).

Jose Siri is batting .345 (81 for 233) with 18 home runs over his last 59 games (since May 21), raising his average from .218 to .297 and his slugging percentage from .303 to .537. Siri’s 161 total bases since May 21 ranks second among all Major League and Minor League players in Professional Baseball. Siri’s .676 slugging percentage since May 21 ranks second among all players in Minor League Baseball (full-season leagues). His 18 home runs since May 21 is tied for second in the Minor Leagues. His .345 batting average since May 21 is third among all Single-A players (30 teams).

For those who worry about plate control, his K rate in 2015 was 36%. In 2016 it dropped to 29%. This year it is 23% while is walk rate has doubled. It doesn't mean that a high BB's will come, but the trend is favorable.

Congratulations to Jose Siri for getting a hit tonight and extending his streak to a Midwest League record 36 games in a row with a base hit.

    Siri For Real?

Where does Jose Siri fit in to the Reds future if at all? Anxious to see if they promote him once the streak ends and if so if he continues his progress in Double AA.

Hate to seem like the policeman around here, but there's a Siri thread in the minor league forum on this site. Maybe this would be better asked there?
