It's A ball against A ball pitchers. The streak is impressive but it doesn't say much.

I really liked Gary Redus with the Reds, but damn do his Minor League stats look fantastic. 24 HRs + 54 SBs in AAA? Yes, please.

Siri is not for real. He is a virtual player created by Apple. Don't fall in love with him.

I don't know about that. Any time she doesn't understand what I say, she plays something like Ariana Grande. I once told her to never play Ariana Grande again, and she responded by playing Ariana Grande.

    I'm guessing she's George's granddaughter or something.

Nah. I'm happy for the guy and obviously it's better than stinking up the joint. All I'm saying is that it's against inferior pitching. Hopefully he will hit very good pitchers, all I'm saying is that this streak doesn't mean that he can. I'm still impressed by his feat and will root for him to succeed.

Sure. But that can literally be said for anyone in the minor leagues.

The bigger question is why was he 25 and still at AAA while putting up numbers like that when Paul Householder was stinking up the joint in RF in Cincinnati? The only legitimate outfielders the Reds had that year were Eddie Milner, the ghost of Cesar Cedeño, and PH specialist Larry Biittner.

(Note: When I try to type "Biittner", Autocorrect changes it to "Hitter".)
Eric Stratton, Rush Chairman. Damn glad to meet ya.

And when pitchers put up good numbers do you say "It's against inferior hitters?" What I mean is the experience level and ages are mostly equivalent. Siri, for instance is age appropriate for the league, facing pitchers that are either higher ranked from the draft (ie - more raw talent) or have spent 2-3-4 years in the rookie leagues gaining more experience and polish. Few draftees go right to A ball, and those that do are usually high draft picks from college. Look at the tools and then the possible problems. Siri has all the athletic tools to be a star. Maybe more than any prospect in the system. Problem - he still has to learn to recognize breaking stuff and lay off it when it is going to break out of the zone. That's a big problem. Some guys never overcome it. He does have an evolving record of upward progress - cutting strikeouts (which rate he's reduced quite a bit) and drawing more walks (very marginal improvement). I agree with you though, there is a real climb ahead. High A for the Reds farm is the Florida State League - very hard on hitters with incrementally better pitchers. Then the big jump to to AA, another fairly tough league on hitters, against pitchers that are very near ready for the majors. So, is he for real? Yes. But he's far from finished and that's the rub. He has a significant problem to overcome as far as skill, and the toughest 2 leagues for hitters in the system still ahead. Look at Aquino when he reached AA after exciting us all last season. Hey at least he hasn't flat lined like Narciso Crook....I'm excited, I'm dubious, I'm hopeful, I'm jaded....
99% of all numbers only tell 33% of the story so when looking at the numbers remember that numbers is plural...
