    Anyone traveling for the eclipse?

Is anyone making a drive anywhere to get a better view of the eclipse?

I've been debating it all week, whether it's worth it to spend all of that time in the car to go see a full eclipse or if I should just stay here in Cincinnati and see a 90% eclipse. I think if I could talk someone into going with me that I'd be 100% driving south, but something-something-work-something causes issues.

I'm going for it. Gonna fly out to Denver (only place I could get decent room/car) drive up to Wyoming with wife and Daughter (they're coming from SF). Crazy, but you might not get another chance. You're young, so you can wait till 2024 if necessary.

My parents are taking their RV up to Idaho, in fact I think they are there now.

You won't really notice a 90-95% eclipse all that much.

Right I mean you'll notice it, but it's certainly vastly different. It's more like dusk, but you won't be able to see stars and planets or the sun corona or any of that. Also it will last even less time than the path of totality.

I actually think my company is shutting down service centers on the west coast for this. I don't have any eye wear on me, will probably stay put. A LOT of people I know are traveling south to Nashville, though.
Arise and walk, come through. A world beyond that door is calling out for you. Arise and walk, come through. It's calling out for you.

It's 82% eclipse in the DC area. They are now calling for thunderstorms around the time frame of the eclipse so it may not be as visible here. I will be getting off work not long after the peak of it here which 2:42 pm. So I may be able to see it a little walking over to the subway station if its not cloudy.

I think we're going to have a better one in 5 years or so.

99% here, just south of Asheville, NC. The path of totality passes through about 50-70 miles from here. We're taking a little break from work to have a look, and the nice folks in HR have supplied Sun Drop and Sunkist sodas, along with Moon Pies.

Eclipse at 2:37, sugar coma at 2:38.

Temps dropped 7 degrees here and while noticeably darker, I do wish I had traveled 3 hours south for perfection.

My favorite memory with an eclipse was being in Kenya in 1982, when one of the staff came running and shouted to the head guide "Joe, something is eating the moon!"

Every time I see a picture of the eclipse, all I can think of is...

The team Matheny described several times this weekend as the team he thinks the Cardinals could be, is actually the team the Reds have become.
