You have any idea of what his expenses are? How many cars he has? How many houses? Is he taking care of his family? His friends? How much is he paying in taxes? You know how easy it is for athletes to go broke no matter how much they make. I'm not saying he's going broke or will go broke but it could be easy to do. So why not take the 3 game suspension and be done with it? Or he could fight it, lose - which most assuredly he will - and serve the suspension in November and/or December? He'll lose because the precedent has been set with Brady.

Marvin Lewis, on the competition committee, says that they are wrong and that the film proves it. That's only part of how he could win in court. He could win any number of other ways.

Always liked Hayden... but you're right. Especially over these last few years. Yeah he has fought injuries, but has also turned into a whiner, begging out of games. But when healthy he was one of the best. Use to shut AJ Green down.

I think he played against AJ dating back to High School. He always shut Green down, for some reason, he just was in his head and shut him completely down.

CB's don't age well, remember Revis.

The Burfict suspension is a joke, absolute joke, I just don't think he goes any further and sits out 3 games.

It is a joke on so many levels. One that hasn't been talked about much is the fact that this happened in a preseason game. It's bad enough that players get hurt in preseason games but now teams risk losing their players for the reg season due to suspensions? Why should any starters suit up for meaningless games? Have you ever heard of an MLB player getting a suspension for something on the field in Spring Training? Heck no. If a pitcher threw at a batter he'd say well it's ST and my control isn't the best yet.

Then there's the bit about what should constitute a suspension for anyone. I don't think every personal foul should result in a suspension. I think only intentional shots to the head should be suspendable.

It's hard enough for a team like ours to compete. This makes it a very unlevel playing field

What's the over/under on which week this season we'll first see a Steeler player lead with their helmet away from the ball, no foul, no fine?

    I say week 1.

2017 Bengals Season (Nobody's Burfict Edition)

John Ross hurt his knee. Hopefully nothing serious but he's a guy with a bit of an injury history.

I'll go with that and say it'll be Shazier or Dupree.

He seems fine per one report.

This was convenient. Now we don't have to keep three Quarterbacks, can keep one to cover Burfict's suspension. That suspension is still going to force them to cut someone they don't want to, where some other team will claim him. It's an uneven playing field for the Bengals.

    From Rotoworld with Rotoworld comments:

Bengals No. 3 QB Jeff Driskel suffered a thumb injury in Thursday's preseason finale.
It's believed to be broken. The developmental quarterback could be stashed on injured reserve with an eye toward making him a "return" player. The Bengals kept Driskel on the 53-man roster for all of 2016.

I wish the Bengals would do something bold for once and go get this guy. Their Secondary desperately needs him.

    From Rotoworld with Rotoworld comments:

NBC Denver reports the Broncos are expected to "part ways" with SS T.J. Ward by Saturday's cut-down deadline.

Reporter Mike Klis says the move will come "preferably by trade." That means release is on the table if a deal can't be worked out. Due a non-guaranteed $4.5 million, Ward missed most of training camp with a hamstring issue. In that time, the Broncos apparently grew comfortable with second-year pro Justin Simmons as 30-year-old Ward's successor. Ward would quickly and easily find a new home if cut loose.Broncos SS T.J. Ward (hamstring) returned to practice on Tuesday, August 22nd. He's back after missing the last two weeks. Ward was limited to individual drills on Tuesday but should be ready well in advance of Week 1. It is a bit surprising considering Ward played well last season and is only a year removed from three-straight Pro Bowl nods, but he is entering the final year of his deal. After discussing an extension with him in May, the Broncos may have decided they will not be able to re-sign him.

Hobson mentioned that anyone placed on IR-Return counts against the 53, so it seems logical, since they're in an even deeper roster crunch, to just IR him. They're trying to keep him for 2018 and he wasn't going to play anyway, and if it comes down to him playing, the season is already over. They weren't trading McCarron this year.

The way Tobin was speaking tonight, these suspensions (Burfict and PacMan) have a silver lining in that they don't count towards their 53, so it gives them some flexibility that might come in handy on cutdown day

It could be Joey Porter and they still wouldn't get fined.

    From Rotoworld with Rotoworld comments:

Geoff Hobson of the Bengals' official website reports John Ross is expected to miss a "couple weeks" with a sprained knee.

It doesn't sound overly serious, but it's just another injury in a long line of them for this year's No. 9 overall pick. Ross battled several sever knee injuries to each knee at Washington and underwent significant shoulder surgery in the pre-draft process that kept him out of training camp the first couple weeks. Ross is doubtful to make a big impact in the first half of his rookie season.

    From Rotoworld:

    Redskins released S Will Blackmon.

Blackmon earned PFF's No. 26 grade out of 91 qualifiers at safety last year. The 32-year-old has experience at both safety and cornerback and should latch on with another team before long.
