He was still a head coach this past season. Amazing.

He has still coached the closest to perfection of 40 minutes of basketball I have ever seen. That coaching effort is on par with Secretariat's victory in the Belmont, except Secretariat didn't have anyone else pushing him to perfection, just tge inner drive to be the best there's ever been. That he was still coaching speaks of his inner drive.

He did a great job of putting and keeping Villanova on the basketball map. That 85 championship has to be one the top three upsets in NCAA finals history. No one gave them a chance at mighty Georgetown. But no one thought Villanova would play a perfect game either. I watched that game in the dorm lobby at the college I was attending. A big crowd congregated to watch and everyone was rooting for Villanova. It's amazing he was still coaching right up until the end. It just shows his love of the game. RIP Rollie Massimino.

I was saddened last night when I heard this. From all accounts he was a well respected coach and a good guy.

Villanova had a real good team that season. They lost twice to Geogetown but both games were close. I thought going into the final game that they had a very good chance of winning that game.
