And he's contemplating it. He's 20+ games back in Atlanta, and the Angels are a game out of the wild card spot, have Mike Trout and Justin Upton - and moving to California for a month and the playoffs may not be worth it for him.

Angels signed OF Justin Upton to a five-year, $106 million contract.

Upton was considering opting out of the remaining four years and $88.5 million left on his deal, but the Angels did not want him to get away after a short two-month stay and so they tacked on another year (and another $17.5 million) to keep him in the fold. Upton, 30, posted a career-best .901 OPS with 35 home runs and 109 RBI in 152 games this season between Detroit and Anaheim. He should be

Per Rotoworld. Sounds like a sensible move for both sides.
I dont care, Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. Hes in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.

Don't like the deal. Angels continue to overpay on aging stars. Congrats to Upton's agent for pulling this off.
The lowest acceptable payroll amount for ownership to show they are not greedy pigs is 15 million more than they are currently paying. No matter what that currently is.

The Angles really only decided on that $17.5M contract in 2022. Justin Upton had the option for the other four years and he chose to use it.

Surprised Upton is only 30, seems like he's been in the majors for 20 years.

I will go to my grave convinced that when the Braves signed Melvin to that LTC they thought he was actually Justin, and then they had to go trade for the one they thought they already signed.

So this means Trout stays in center for the foreseeable future? Is that the best idea for him long term?

Is CF really that much more physically taxing that RF or LF?
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.
