    Re: RIP Don Williams

One of my favorite country singers from that era. I have good memories of listening to his music with a certain group of friends. Always appreciated the easiness of his voice.

    Re: RIP Don Williams

Don Williams was the first "Country" singer I ever listened to back in the 80s after years of basically being a Rock only kind of guy. Eric Clapton came out with a version of "Tulsa Time" so it got me to check out Williams version. I only had a "greatest hits" kind familiarity but loved his voice and his hit songs. Sorry to hear this news. Williams opened up the Country Genre for me and now I have a fairly extensive collection of country music on my IPOD in addition to my Rock and R&B stuff.

    RIP.

A couple of decades ago, a cassette tape of Don Williams' greatest hits help sustain me on a long solo car trip from Florida to Indiana. "Amanda" and "Good Old Boys Like Me" have to be among the best country songs ever. Thanks, Don...

I am sorry to learn of his passing. I agree with the mentions of "Amanda" and "Good Ole Boys Like Me," which are classics and are two of my three favorite Don Williams songs, along with "Maggie's Dream."
