    Yes, Michigan is in trouble.

And I don't care if Wisconsin plays in the weak B1G West. The schedule is what it is. Play them and win them all and you are in.

On a side note........I am impressed with how Purdue looks. I don't think Brohm will be there very long.

Agreed on Brohm. I'd have to think he's #1 on Tenessee's list among others.

Agree to agree. He is a fine coach.

I don't know. Does that game say more about Mich or Penn State? Penn State has got to be considered as a national title contender. Their game vs OSU will tell us a lot

Well the vaunted Michigan defense isn't what everyone thinks it is. Not to take anything away from the Lions and their fine team.

Right now, Harbaugh has the exact same record as Brady Hoke.

A week before the season started I went fishing with a buddy, who happens to be a big time Michigan fan. As we sat in the boat talking he voiced his concern about the upcoming season. Known him for a long time and he is usually very optimistic, this time he wasn't. I don't follow the Wolverines, but he knows his stuff. He fully expected UM to only be the 5th or 6th best team in the B1G. As it stands right now he was dead on target.

    Re: B1G Football Discussion

I was just thinking about Hoke as I was watching that game. Harbaugh is not going to have success in Michigan until he can start taking back high end recruits from Ohio. That has always been a primary source of TTUN's success. Their state is thin, and Meyer is stealing some of their high end recruits in that state even.

And the prognosis for that is not good because I think his goofiness has been exposed and will affect his long term recruiting efforts. Is he a good coach? Well, he has short term success, but wears out his welcome very quickly, seems to be his MO.

Anyone who was following the B1G knew Michigan was due for some sort of regression this season. They had a very old and experienced team last year and I think on defense were returning two players. Harbaugh has stepped up the recruiting, but he has struggled to find a QB. He doesn't have they system in place right now that the likes of OSU, Alabama, and Clemson have, where they send a bunch of guys to the NFL but are ready to replace them with talented youngsters. That may come with time. He also likes the pro style offense, the old ground and pound, control the clock, just wear down the opponent. That works when you are playing lesser competition, you just continue to lean on them and then they break. But it allows slightly lesser talented teams to play with them (MSU) and he struggles to beat the top tier opponents.

With Harbaugh, in order to be as successful as is demanded at UM, he will need to change his offense up. He may need to bring in an OC from the outside who is willing to call a game that makes him uncomfortable. The best coaches in the game do that, will Jim?

And both of their last names begin with a "H"!

When you're tied for 4th place in the conference with RUTGERS!!!! ... you've got issues!

Michigan is home this weekend vs Rutgers, but I still have a weighted decision to make over on our weekly college pick'em thread..... Will Michigan meet the 23.5 point spread?

So far this college season I don't know if there has been a bigger college match-up (maybe so), up to this point, with such HUGE implications as the pending Ohio State- Penn State game this next Saturday.

Last year, In Happy Valley, PSU upset OSU 24-21 on a blocked FG with over four minutes left.

    The QBs ....

    Barrett was 28/43 245 yds 1 TD 47.4 QBR
    McSorley was 8/23 154 yds 1 TD 30.9 QBR

    OSU 168 yds rushing vs PSU's 122 yds ..... OSU's Weber (71) vs Barkely (99)

But the big offensive play-maker for OSU in that game was Samuels, both rushing and receiving, who is gone.

I really don't know what to say (or predict) about the game this Saturday. Thank God it's not in Happy Valley, but home field advantage didn't help OSU when they played Oklahoma earlier in the year. It's a game I'm not gonna miss for anything! LOL

As for Michigan? They still have to travel to Madison to face #5 Wisconsin, and then finish at home vs Ohio State. Now ESPN's Matchup Predictor (win probability) has Ohio State at 86.4% and Michigan 13.6%

As far as I'm concerned you can flush that (LOL). I don't care what these respective team's record is - it will be a battle.

    Re: B1G Football Discussion

Here's how much I respect those so-called "experts" on the various sports affiliates, and what they have to say (for the most part) ..... big, big game today for both teams (OSU, PSU). We don't need to discuss the implications for both - they're huge. Biggest game of the year for both, seeing what's at stake?

Yet I've read at least a dozen analyst's positions, and breakdown, on this game, and what they say the outcome will be - and while I enjoy listening to, and reading them, as well we all may do - I don't understand how they can look at the "numbers", each team's schedule, player match-ups, head coaches, etc, etc etc ...... and come up with final decisions/results that are sooooo far apart from one another (LOL).

I have two co-workers who I simply laugh at...

One is a HUGE Buckeye-hater. He can't stand them! He was born/raised in WV, but has lived in Columbus for close to 30 years (married, raised his family). He has no connection whatsoever to Michigan, but purposely became a fan simply because they're the Buckeye's arch-enemy. He's always telling me - "All I ever hear about is Buckeyes, Buckeyes, Buckeyes. It makes me sick!". I look at him and say "Dude! You're living in Columbus, which is the heart of Buckeye country! What do you expect to hear?" LOL

Now the other co-worker also lives in Columbus, is not only a huge OSU fan, but he's what I refer to as a A-hole fan. What do I mean? These are the types of fans whose loyalty goes to the extent that they're team is the greatest team in existence .... their HC is the greatest thing since Jesus .... their team can do no wrong .... and you never, never criticize your team ... if they don't win the national championship every year it's not their fault, but because they got screwed/wronged somehow. This guy I absolutely refuse to talk sports with because he knows it all. In other words .... he's an idiot! (LOL)

For about the last month, leading up to the PSU-Michigan game, and then today's game, these two have been going at each other with me stuck in the middle. I don't say jack. They're screaming at each other, talking trash .... "Penn State hasn't played any body! .... Who has Ohio Sate played? They lost to Oklahoma and they ain't ****! ... back and forth it goes.... "Penn State is going to clean Ohio State's clock!"... "Ohio State is going to win by three touchdowns!"

And because I am a Buckeye fan, the one co-worker expects me to side with the OSU fan ... and the OSU fan expects me to agree with him, or else I'm not a "true" fan. It's like that moment in the movie O Brother Where Art Thou where Clooney and Turturro are arguing over who the leader of this outfit is going to be - who elected you boss,? - they turn to Blake for his support and he looks at them and simply says "I'm with you fellows" (LMAO)

I don't know who is going to win that game today. In the back of my mind I think it will be OSU, but it ain't a fur sure thingy. Which team is going to show up to play?

Come Sunday morning, someone - some of those sports analysts, as well as one of my co-workers - is gonna look like an idiot. And it ain't gonna be me because I covered my ***, didn't stick my neck out, by not saying anything (LOL).

I will say this fur sure...... the Browns will lose, and maybe big time, in London Sunday. That I know!

Neither did Michigan State and Northwestern, though it got lost in the shuffle given the same kickoff time as PSU/tOSU. IU/Maryland was also entertaining even though the wrong team won.

Corollary, I hate it when three or more barnburners are occurring at the same time, subsequently followed by a time frame of games that turn out to be (from the standpoint of being competitive) barfsville.
