    Kind of an aside-

In the autograph world, Roger Epperson is about the top authenticator in the business for rock and roll.

He used to get in person autographs....still does a little....anyway, so at a concert one time he sends his very pretty wife backstage to get an autograph from Petty...

And she never comes back. Even more strange, Petty married her.

And yes, this is awful news, one of my all time favorites.

Eerie. For no particular reason "Here Comes My Girl" has been buzzing around my head all day (for, I think, the first time in my life) and then I see this.
Wait until the year after next year.

It is wild and true. I'd never heard that one before. Also the Wiki page says that they didn't get married 'till ten yrs later. I bet a book could be written about what transpired in those ten yrs.

I have used Roger to help me purchase stuff...always knew who he was...

Then someone tells me that story, and i was blown away. Just blown away. I felt for the guy. But if you are using attractiveness to get something, be prepared.

Well that just sucks, growing up in Gainesville the radio stations all played Tom Petty at least twice an hour since he was from there, tons of songs that one will never forget.

    Just sucks.

Re: Tom Petty has passed away

When I was in high school in the seventies, I introduced his music to several of my friends, and I've been a fan ever since. I've been listening to tracks from Wildflowers recently; I really like how Rick Rubin's production fit with the feel of Petty's music.

    That's heartbreaking.

Definitely enjoyed him as a musician, and he was one of my wife's favorites.
There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there always has been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge." -- Isaac Asimov
