Top 50 FA Projections - MLBTR

    https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/...edictions.html

    33. Jhoulys Chacin – Reds. Two years, $14MM (High BB/Low K, Most MLB HBP's) I would not be a happy camper

    13. Zack Cozart – Padres. Three years, $42MM
    14. Jay Bruce – Blue Jays. Three years, $39MM
    17. Todd Frazier – Mets. Three years, $33MM

    4. Jake Arrieta – Brewers. Four years, $100MM
    9. Lance Lynn – Rangers. Four years, $56MM
    10. Greg Holland – Cardinals. Four years, $50MM
    11. Alex Cobb – Twins. Four years, $48MM.

Best deal on that list is Cobb.

    Frazier gonna get 33 mill?

Also admittedly I haven't paid that much attention to Chacin but I gotta believe there's a better way to spend 14 mill Omer the next two seasons....is rather see it go toward locking down a couple of guys longer term

That contract basically suggests that he's worth less than a full win in each of the next two seasons. $7M per season basically is a team saying "we don't expect you to be good - we just don't expect you to be sent to Triple-A". That said, I'd still pass.

I gotta admit, those numbers for Cobb and Lynn are pretty low. If that were realistic the Reds could afford to add both and radically change the scenario. Not that they will or anything, Im just dreaming. But I would have guessed both were looking at Mike Leake type contracts.

MLBTR has been pretty accurate since they’ve been doing this. Every year, I think they are a bit high with their numbers, and every year they seem to end up a bit low, lol.
The team Matheny described several times this weekend as the team he thinks the Cardinals could be, is actually the team the Reds have become.

Michael Pineda seems about the Reds speed these days. Buy low with high upside in 2019.

I'd be on board with that. He could be the next Francisco Liriano.

If someone told you three years ago that Todd Frazier would get less money than Zack Cozart and Jay Bruce in FA...

I see Chacin led the majors in HPB last year. If he signs for us, he'll likely repeat that facing the Buccos so many times.

Almost all of that list gives me a collective shudder. Cobb and Pineda are about the only ones I see worth looking into.

Yeah, I thought that was really surprising, that MLBTR would have the Pads paying Cozart that much.

I could, maybe, see it with a contender.

Been saying this for a while now. If healthy in two years he'd be a steal.

"if healthy" he would fit right in with our rotation of health roulette.
