    Re: 2017-2018 Slobberknockers

    Ok, I'll take a shot.

Adam Duvall to SF for Hunter Strickland.
Sign Alex Cobb, 3 years, 41 Million (Salaries of $10, $12, $14 with an option at $15 Million with a $5 Million buy-out. A bit of an overpay IMO, but have to lure him here somehow)
Sign Tommy Hunter 2 years, $13 Million
Michael Lorenzen and Ariel Hernandez to Philly for Freddy Galvis and Cameron Rupp
Move Nick Senzel to RF where he can become a Star quickly a al Mookie Betts.

    Line-up:
    Winker LF
    Senzel RF
    Votto 1B
    Suarez 3B
    Gennett/Blandino 2B
    Barnhart/Rupp C
    Galvis SS
    Pitcher
    Hamilton CF

Other Bench Players: Schebler, Ervin, Peraza,

    Rotation:
    Bailey
    Castillo
    Cobb
    Desclafani
    Romano
(next in line at AAA if by some miracle both Bailey and Disco are healthy: Stephenson, Mahle, Garrett, Mella, Davis) AA would have Lopez, Reyes, Travieso and Gutierrez as potential options down the road.

    Bullpen:
    Closer:Iglesias
    LHSU: Finnegan, Peralta
    RHSU: Strickland, Hunter
    Multi-inning guy: Jackson Stephens
    Mop-up guy: Shackleford

(AAA Bullpen help: Weiss, Herget, Reed, Brice with Tanner Rainey hanging out in AA)

60 Day DL: Herrera, Mesoraco (if Herrera is healthy, he could play the Blandino role with Blandino in AAA. If Mesoraco is healthy, he's the primary RH PH with Ervin sent down.)

I've never been a believer that the Reds need to worry about having too many quality guys for too few spots and they certainly shouldn't worry about that now.

Not necessarily, in my fantasy world here I still like moving Suarez to SS accommodate Senzel at 3B.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Cobb will probably make more than that and from a much better team than the Reds. If you're a decent to good FA pitcher, there is no reason to come play with the Reds unless they are drastically overpaying you.

You could easily be right, but for three years it's pretty good money and if they exercise the fourth, it becomes $51 Million. You are right about contending though. The Reds probably need to outbid other teams by a lot.

I think RZ is vastly overrating how much Duvall and/or Schebler would bring back in a trade.
What would you say.....ya do here?

You're crazy. Torres comes with more years of team control and can play SS.

Exactly why the yankees won't trade him.

Yeah. I think those two and Gennett all have about the same trade value. I have that pegged as a solid 7th or 8th inning reliever, but I wonder if even that would be too much to expect. They aren't bringing back prospects in some team's top 10 or a starter who would be more than a suspect or reclamation project (the Reds have plenty of both of those).

As a a test, pick a disappointment from the Reds. Say Cody Reed. Would anyone trade him today for some other team's Adam Duvall? I wouldn't.

Fun fact: They have identical bWAR from 2017. Didi is one year closer to free agency though.

Eugenio Suarez, Billy Hamilton, Robert Stephenson and Jose Peraza to the Marlins for Christian Yelich and Dee Gordon (Gordon then plays SS)

I'd probably try to expand it to include Duvall/Schebler for Ozuna too.
    I'm not a system player. I am a system.

You wouldn't trade Cody Reed for another Duvall (assuming the Reds had somewhere to play this returning Duvall)?

    Re: 2017-2018 Slobberknockers

I would trade for hicks and wade from yankees for hamilton and suarez with yankees
I would trade greene and a couple of guys in minors for archer and boxberger
I would trade for ziegler and streckenrider for weiss
Might add strailey and romano or garrett to make bigger deal
Would trade a young starter mahle or stevenson
    for hand from the padres
This could be a rotation of archer castillo stevenson or mahle straily bailey disco who ever is healthy
Hicks and Wade solve ss and cf
Pen gets upgraded by hand, streckenrider, boxberger and ziegler. They would go with peralta, lorenzen and iggy plus finnegan
