I've been told that this is Joey Votto and not Votto Huckleberry Midnight Pickles Raisor, so it's not as big of a surprise

Votto’s getting a lot of love on Twitter from non-Reds fans. Could he have a chance?

Who, of the top 3, would you remove in favor of Rendon?

Very easy. Goldy. Kal explained simply and better than I could.

Hard to argue strongly against. I did a doubletake when I saw Goldschmidt. He sucked the last month.

Yeah, but his team was actually in a playoff race.

Goldschmidt was so bad in Sept/Oct...

    "How bad was he???"

He had a worse wRC+ than Adam Duvall!

I remember you very wisely bringing them up in the Duvall thread.

Yeah, even though 30 days is nothing in terms of sample size, there are some interesting names on this list.

    http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.asp...rs=0&sort=17,a

    Schebler/Duvall/Suarez - Reds trio, obviously
Smoak - looked like the next Toronto career rebirth...perhaps not the case (he'd been due to regress)
Goldy - MVP season flushed away
    Dansby S - had a rough start to the year...hoped he'd bounce back...nope
    BP - Hi Brandon!
Zobrist - to me his decline was a huge factor in the Cubs not repeating
Jake Lamb - a beast in the first half, terrible second half and whispers of being a platoon guy now (can't hit LHP)
Machado - he's due to get paid...better have a better year next season

    And others...

I don't know, just a lot of discussion material on that link.

October baseball is not taken into account in MVP voting, the voting is due prior to the postseason beginning.

Rendon had 2 fairly mediocre months as well. And from July 19th on he had just 5 homeruns (Goldy tripled that amount over that period). (Not to say homruns are a defining characteristic of an MVP but they do net the most attention).

Either way, Stanton should probably win this in a landslide.

I do agree Stanton will win. Chicks and sportswriters dig the long ball.

Sept/Oct regular season stats are lumped together as a monthly split. Perhaps I foolishly went with the assumption we all knew voting was done prior to the postseason.
