“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

The day Thurman Munson died was one of the most traumatic days of my childhood.

Roberto Clemente for me, for a number of reasons. Seems I'm just posting personal stuff lately (mostly on that other board), but I associated him with a friend, the first person my age that I knew who died. The friend was killed on the last day of the 1971 World Series, the series that cemented my love of Clemente. When Clemente died a little more than a year later, it tore a bit of a fresh wound.

Very sad. I follow him on Twitter and for the past month or so there have been a bunch of pics with his new plane...

This story says he has died, but then almost contradicts itself later

We've lost too many pitchers in the last year. JF, Ventura, and now Doc.

    RIP
