Would you do a Votto trade with Toronto this year, what would make you pull the trigger? I understand if you think it's nuts to trade the best mlb player on the planet.

I mean if they want to dangle Vlad Guerrero Jr. I will start to listen. Otherwise they don't have a lot left at this point that excites me. I like Stroman, but not as the centerpiece in a Votto deal.
"Today was the byproduct of us thinking we can come back from anything." - Joey Votto after blowing a 10-1 lead and holding on for the 12-11 win on 8/25/2010.
I think this is a glitch in the matrix.

If I am Dick Williams I would do Votto for Vlad Guerrero and Bo Bichette. Shift Duvall or Senzell to first.
I often think Joey Votto trade to Toronto threads are RZ at its weakest. Simply because he's Canadian doesn't mean that's the only place he would ever go to.
Not to mention, as it was said in the resurrected 2014 thread, barring significant injury, the Red will get their value from the remainder of Votto's contract. And I love that he wants to be here for the duration. Love it!

No.
To deal Votto I would need to substantially upgrade at least three spots on the 25-man roster for the next 6-8 years less than that would require 1-2 perennial All-Stars. Unrealistic? Sure, but I don't have to deal Joey & another team is gonna have to pay a huge premium to get it done. I will say though, if the Reds keep playing the poor card, then they can't afford Votto and need to move him before the salary grows and his production falls.
If you replace Votto, where are you going to find the 6+ fWAR that you are losing for less money just to break even?
It's not about 2018....

Everyone has a price. Stroman+Guerrero/Bichette+Tellez would be a start.
That said, I'm not wanting the Reds to pursue trading Votto.
