    Re: 2018 NFL Season Thread

    From Rotoworld with Rotoworld comments:

Buccaneers signed WR Mike Evans to a five-year, $82.5 million contract extension.

The deal includes $55 million guaranteed and keeps Evans under contract through 2023. In terms of annual salary, this makes Evans the second-highest-paid receiver in football behind future Hall of Famer Antonio Brown. Evans is coming off a down year in 2017, but still topped 1,000 yards receiving for the fourth time in as many seasons. Odell Beckham, who was drafted five picks after Evans in 2014, could use Evans' new deal as a starting point in long-term negotiations with the Giants.

    From Rotoworld with Rotoworld comments:

Raiders re-signed DT Justin Ellis to a three-year, $15 million contract.

Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the deal includes more than $6 million guaranteed. The 335-pound Ellis showed well against the run last season, earning PFF's No. 14 run-stopping grade out of 79 qualifiers at defensive tackle. He's been with the Raiders since 2014.

    Re: 2018 NFL Season Thread

    From Rotoworld with Rotoworld comments:

Free agent Richard Sherman said he'll be "in contact" with the Seahawks.

The Seahawks released Sherman on Friday but apparently the team would be open to bringing him back at a reduced cost. "They wanted the financial flexibility going into free agency but expressed that they wanted me to return and will be in contact," told Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer. Even coming off a torn Achilles, Sherman should draw widespread interest on the open market. With the Seahawks strapped for cap space, reuniting with Sherman seems like a long shot.

    Re: 2018 NFL Season Thread

    From Rotoworld with Rotoworld comments:

49ers signed CB Richard Sherman, formerly of the Seahawks, to a three-year contract.

It took Sherman just over 24 hours to land a new team after being let go by the Seahawks on Friday. There was some thought he would have to settle for a one-year, prove-it deal coming off an Achilles injury, but obviously the Niners had no qualms about Sherman's health. The 29-year-old has been one of the league's best corners since arriving as a fifth-round pick in 2011 and gives San Francisco's secondary a much-needed boost. It's a homecoming of sorts for Sherman, who played collegiately at Stanford. By staying in the NFC West, Sherman will get to suit up against his former team twice a year.

Boy that seems like a lot of dough for Evans. Maybe I don't watch TB enough.
The lowest acceptable payroll amount for ownership to show they are not greedy pigs is 15 million more than they are currently paying. No matter what that currently is.

    Re: 2018 NFL Season Thread

    From Rotoworld with Rotoworld comments:

Chargers signed CB Casey Hayward to a three-year, $36 million extension through 2021.

Hayward will receive $20 million guaranteed. Hayward has been a second-team All-Pro in consecutive seasons and is one of the most underrated cornerbacks in the NFL. He led the league in interceptions in 2016 and was Pro Football Focus' No. 1 cover corner last season, a year after checking in at No. 7. With Hayward locked up and Trevor Williams and Desmond King playing really well last season, the Chargers have one of the deepest cornerback groups if they can somehow get former first-rounder Jason Verrett to stay healthy after missing 27-of-32 games the past two seasons. Hayward is entering his age-29 season.

    Re: 2018 NFL Season Thread

    From Rotoworld with Rotoworld comments:

The only guaranteed portion of Richard Sherman's three-year, $39 million contract is his $3 million signing bonus.

Sherman has been representing himself, so this contract is sure to be criticized by the agent community. So if Sherman doesn't recover smoothly from his Achilles' surgeries, the 49ers could conceivably release him before the season and be on the hook for only $3 million. Sherman also agreed to turn $6 million of his total potential earnings into per-game roster bonuses, paid only if Sherman is on the active, game-day roster. It's an incredibly team-friendly deal.

    Re: 2018 NFL Season Thread

    From Rotoworld with Rotoworld comments:

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports free agent WR Allen Robinson intends to sign with the Bears.

Robinson told ESPN's Josina Anderson he's receiving a three-year, $42 million contract. The Bears have been linked to numerous top free agent receivers and Robinson, who is still just 24 and expected to be fully healthy for the offseason, is arguably the cream of the crop. Robinson suffered a torn ACL in 2017 but is only two seasons removed from a "down" year in which he led the Jaguars across the board with a 73-883-6 line. He steps into immediate opportunity with the Bears, who have 225 targets and nearly 2,000 air yards available from last season's production.

    Re: 2018 NFL Season Thread

    From Rotoworld comments:

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports free agent QB Case Keenum intends to sign with the Broncos.

Yahoo's Charles Robinson confirmed Schefter's report. The Broncos reportedly decided against committing to Kirk Cousins, who would undoubtedly command a mega-deal. Perhaps Denver also realized that Cousins wasn’t coming there. The Broncos have been linked to Keenum throughout the offseason since the 30-year-old was first signed by Denver senior personnel advisor Gary Kubiak as an UDFA when the two were together with the Texans. This shouldn’t preclude the Broncos from using the No. 5 overall pick on a quarterback.

Sam Bradford goes to Cards on a 1 year, $20 Million contract. Option for 2nd year at same price. That screams QB in the draft.

Interesting no talk of McCarron yet.
