Catcher from Oregon State, a switch hitter, is a possible 1-1.

MLB.com with it's "way too early" mock for 2019

    4. Reds (22-41, .349): Shea Langeliers, C, Baylor
If Rutschman is the top catcher in the class, Langeliers might not be far behind. He has excellent catch-and-throw skills with outstanding pop times to second. At the plate, Langeliers is quick to the ball and can drive it to all fields, with double-digit home runs in each of his first two seasons.

    Re: 2019 Draft Class

Seems like everyone loves Bobby Witt Jr., but there's some wide differences in opinion between the next best SS. Kiley McDaniel thinks Bryson Stott is the early favorite to go 1-1, but other publications tout Logan Davidson and CJ Abrams, not even mentioning Stott. A lot of baseball to be played between now and then, but I'll be watching all four of these guys, as I'd really like a SS at the top of the draft next year. It's long overdue for the Reds.

If no SS, Hunter Barco and Riley Greene sound interesting at this early stage. Reds can either corner the market on Hunters or Greenes.

Strange not to have any college pitchers in the conversation. Usually at this stage, they're dominating the "way too early" mocks.

    Re: 2019 Draft Class

Fangraphs has UF's Tyler Dyson in their top 20. Guy's only been pitching for a few years. Has a rifle for an arm but his control/command was so bad this year he was removed from the rotation and is no longer trusted to pitch in anything resembling a leverage situation. Talent is there, but it's a mental issue at this point, and we all know how those things can linger when it comes to baseball players and throwing/pitching.
    I heard your record..it's alright.

I'm hoping for a third baseman.....
The lowest acceptable payroll amount for ownership to show they are not greedy pigs is 15 million more than they are currently paying. No matter what that currently is.

12:49 Is Bobby Witt Jr. the clear front runner to go 1st overall right now? If so, is there much of a gap between him and whoever would be 2nd?
    Kiley McDaniel
12:50 I'll probably write something longer about this soon, but no. The 2019 prep class looks down a lot from 2018 and sounds like 2020 is also much better. Witt has the same tools but swung and missed a lot at PG National, so I'm curious to see how he performs the rest of the summer, since he hadn't had that issue before. I'd say SS Bryson Stott from UNLV is the favorite right now, but he's on Team USA and they start playing in a few days, so I'd like to see that team before we start lining guys up, since there's a lot of info coming in over the next few weeks.
    12:51 Quick 2019 prep update
12:52 SS CJ Abrams (GA) and SS Bobby Witt (TX) look like the top 2 guys still, RF Riley Greene (FL) and 3B Rece Hinds (FL) are probably the next two bats.
12:53 On the pitcher side, RHP Brennan Malone (NC) is tops right now, RHP Matthew Allan (FL), LHP Hunter Barco (FL) and RHP Quinn Priester (IL) are the next three for me at this point.

It was great seeing Greg Jones the SS from my alma Mater UNC Wilmington was listed at number 8 in the Fansgraphic draft info for the 2019 draft. I could see the Reds being interested in a SS.

Is there a decent chance Rece Hinds is still there for us at 8?
Attended 1976 World Series in my Mother's Womb. Attended 1990 World Series Game 2 as a 13 year old. Want to take my son to a a World Series Game in Cincinnati in my lifetime.

I would say it's too early to make any real prognostications. This time a year ago, Nander de Sedas was getting top 5 consideration.

Yep way to early, people spent all offseason talking about Bryce Turang as well. We are 6 months from any meaningful data for the masses.

    Re: 2019 Draft Class

MLB Pipeline is out with a first look at next year's top draft prospects...

These are the top 50 prospects for the '19 Draft:

The crop of talent for the 2019 Draft appears to be one of the most imbalanced in recent memory. Quality position prospects abound all over the diamond, while question marks surround the best pitchers available.
The consensus among clubs is that the top tier of 2019 prospects includes as few as one and no more than three position players: Oregon State catcher Adley Rutschman, Colleyville (Texas) Heritage High shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. and California first baseman Andrew Vaughn. They're also the three most highly decorated prospects in the '19 class.

BA has posted an early list of top 100 draft prospects for 2019.

    https://www.baseballamerica.com/rank...aft-prospects/

Seems a little thin on pitching.
