I feel pretty confident these are made up names from the movie Clue.

And you think Bleday is a real name?

When I see the name Bleday I immediately think of Curt Blefary, the Orioles OFer of the 70s
99% of all numbers only tell 33% of the story so when looking at the numbers remember that numbers is plural...

I think of the Miracle Max scene in Princess Bride.

Hard to believe it but we're less than 60 days until the 2019 MLB Draft on Monday, June 3rd. Funny how you forget all about it when the major league team is actually trying a little!

Adley Rutschman and Andrew Vaughn seem like near locks to be off the board for the Reds at #7, they're tearing the cover off the ball. Shea Langeliers had some top pick hype but he's not even OPSing .700 right now for Baylor. I'm still partial to UNLV shortstop Bryson Stott but not looking great that he'll be there either. Not a lot of pitching to be seen at the top of the board, but Nick Lodolo is interesting. He's a TCU lefthander but unlike another TCU lefthander who was just outrighted off our roster Lodolo is a big boy at 6'5. The Pirates took him in the 1st round in 2016 but he didn't sign. He was just okay in 2017-2018 at TCU but has been lights out in 2019.
I dont care, Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. Hes in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.

Zack (Zach?) Thompson has also been very solid for UK.

Kameron Misner and J.J. Bleday are still going strong as well. I don't know how well the high schoolers are showing, but Riley Green and Bobby Witt Jr. are potential selections as well.

Given the dearth of pitching in the system, got to figure Lodolo would spark the Reds' interest. Seems like they might have their pick of whomever they think the top college arm is. Lodolo's making a strong case it's him.

Lodolo sounds like the P version of J India - highly touted HS Senior who sort of flails his first two college season then rides a monster 3rd year into the top 10. He's pitched against some good teams too, so it's not like he is just padding numbers. Definitely worth keeping an eye on.

    Re: 2019 Draft Class

Thompson's a lefty who has some prospect helium and pedigree. His scouting report is a bit dated, but sounds good:

Thompson is a 6-foot-3, 225-pound hurler who has a four-pitch mix, featuring a fastball, slider, curveball and changeup. His fastball sits in the low-90s while occasionally touching 96 mph.

His slider is his best secondary pitch. It sits in the low-80s and generates a high spin rate. His curveball features more depth than power, while his changeup is a respectable offering.

He has a clean delivery and throws from a high three-quarter arm slot.
I especially like the high spin rate.

Not a HS player.... especially pitcher.
The lowest acceptable payroll amount for ownership to show they are not greedy pigs is 15 million more than they are currently paying. No matter what that currently is.

Hunter Bishop is my choice right now.

He’s slugging an absurd 1.010. I’ve read he has 60 grade speed but he’s been trotting around the bases all season. Leads NCAA with 16 homers.

Misner has struggled lately. Not all his fault - he gets pitched around a lot. May be pressing.

Bleday would be my second choice. I hope to watch Lodolo soon.

Bishop has decreased the strikeouts big time and increased his power this year.

    2018: 50/18 K/BB, and 50/35 K/H in ~160 plate appearances
    2019: 20/26 K/BB, and 20/42 K/H in ~125 plate appearances

He's cut them down a bit and almost has as many HRs as Ks, which is ridiculous. He's up to #9 on Fangraphs board now. Color me intrigued.
