I just don't think our pitching staff could handle Winker in LF/Gennett at 2B, mediocrity at SS and "not Billy" in CF.
That’s my premise as a reasonable alternative.

Winker in trade (if good value), Scooter in LF, Senzel at second.

Guessing it will come down to Scooter or Winker in LF.

Senzel will be locked into 2B as Scooter’s fate is set.

Honestly if it were me choosing between Winker and Scooter for LF I'd go Winker, and spend the money Scooter would've made on SP. It's a tough call especially if the trade offers for Scooter are light. You don't just want to salary dump a guy in his prime who's ops is .900.

I’d trade Scooter for a very good MLB pitcher. I’d trade him for very good prospects if it would fuel a big off-season spending spree on pitching.

But I don’t see these things happening, I see Scooter being traded for the usual “very good” prospects with all their risks and delays and modest off-season spending on pitching.

I’d rather keep his bat in the lineup, myself.

He wouldn't have if they would've moved on a contract this winter.

The FO (or their scouts) were smart enough to acquire him, but apparently not smart enough to know what they had in him.

Maybe they were lurking around here too much.
