I didn't see hardly any of this series as I was on the road since about Thursday. The Reds showed they aren't quite there yet. But they are competitive. They could have easily swept the Cubs again. At least they aren't getting throttled every game by good teams now. It takes baby steps at times.

There's a lot of variation in "liking" players, but I do not know how anyone could not "like" Joey Votto on their team for his career with his offensive skills. Anything else just seems like petty personal preference issues. I'll take a team full of guys I don't want to hang out with if they are generational talents at their position.
For example, as the years have gone by, a lot of the BRM players, esp. the great 8, there are several of them that seem like arrogant jerks or other unsavory personality issues, be it Rose and his gambling and sideshow Bob career, Bench and his lame joking, Foster is prickly, but man were they fun to watch play baseball. I could give a rip about their personalities.

"Rounding 3rd and heading for home, good night everybody"
The Reds continued to show great hope. They could have easily won all 3.
I think they got beat mostly by aggressive smart baseball and fell asleep on a few plays. That’s part of coaching to prepare them for the aggressive types of things the cubs do. We were caught off guard which should never happen..
A few timely errors hurt but that will happen.
Castillo concerns me a little as does Romano and Stevenson as I worry that they mentally lose it under pressure. That is what separates the good pitchers and those that will never be consistent .
I don’t hear enough people talk about that. The 3 I mention have the great stuff but most likely have never been tested. Majors is the best and only test that matters. It’s my fear the only solution is that they always dominate and there is not much chance of that.
I have been wondering for some time if other organizations have a way of identifying who is soft early in the minors and then let teams believe they are getting future top of rotation guys.
Reds in my opinion are on there way to some very exciting times. So much fun.
