    Thom Brennaman in game threads

Folks, it's past time to lighten up on the Thom comments within Game Threads. I think most are in agreement that Thom's incessant complaining about length of games/using his over dramatic voice too often/etc. is over the top. So too are the comments. Consider this fair warning that posts about Thom will be deleted. If the trend doesn't stop, infractions will follow for beating a subject to death.

Is this an “all mentions of Thom/Thomisms” are deleted or let’s dial it down greatly and be aware of your griping of the same thing?

As you are watching the game sometimes Thom really jumps out....and as part of the game thread I’ll mention. I post a lot in game threads but Thom is not a focus, but does provide a lot of ammo.

There were 32 posts about Thom in the game thread yesterday. I think we need to go zero tolerance for a while....

I mean, he literally complains about the game. It’s like having a kid kick your airplane seat and then scolding the person getting kicked for bringing it up.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

I jumped in late to the game yesterday (about 3rd inning)....didn’t read the high # of Thom posts and from there on there wasn’t anything out of the ordinary.

It is frustrating that the Reds are doing so well and the announcer for said team is just miserable when a pitcher slows down or trainer comes to check on a player. He truly seems miserable during a good portion of the game. He drains on me as a fan and a viewer. My dog hates him.

    We’ll do better.

    Go Reds!

Remember not everyone hates the Brennamans. I think both men are fine PBP guys and they're the best we currently have. I too have grown tired of the Thom bashing in the game threads because it's so repetitive. It's the same stuff over and over again and the comments from RZers also often border on being personal. When I criticize Thom it's because I don't agree with what he said and then I explain why.

This is a comment from a recent game and it came before Thom was even on the air:

My nephew is here, and he wants to watch THom so he can hear what dumb thing he says next.
That's negative and personal. It's got no place in our game threads. I hope we can get back to criticizing what he says like any other announcer but I agree that for now zero tolerance is probably best

I watch the Reds on MLB.TV, and I fire up the Reds radio network on my computer, so I don't have to listen to Thom.

Nonetheless, I find the rule set out in this thread to be overkill. I do not support it.

    That's my cue.

First, if we're going zero tolerance, then the opening post of today's thread should also be deleted. Otherwise, you're just singling people out.

Secondly, I find the person to whom we are referring to be personally insulting to all true Reds fans. We love this club, and we are sick of having someone constantly take a colossal dump all over it because it doesn't follow the deranged view of him and his daddy.

And lastly, this is to the person who quoted me: At least have the balls to credit me in the quote. It wasn't anonymous. I said it, and I have nothing to be ashamed of.

    I'll see myself out.

Not a Thom/Marty fan, but I also don’t complain about them much.

    Just a suggestion:

How about any and all complaints about the brennamans are directed to this thread. That way, if you don’t want to see them, don’t go to the thread. On the other hand, if either of them annoy you in any particular or general way on that day, you have a community here with which you can commiserate.

In that situation, bringing it up accomplishes something. In the game threads, bringing up a Thom just clogs up the thread, making it unreadable to anyone who wants to focus on the game. It’s not like whining about Thom in a game thread will stop Thom from being annoying.

I really didn't want to call you out personally but if you decide to claim it, fine. That should be your call and not mine.

My purpose here was not to make this personal against any RZer.

While I can't stand Thom and would love it if they took him off the air, there is just so much you can say without beating it to death. I think it has come to that in the game threads. If you can just watch the other teams broadcast then do that. I know the ones in Reds country can't do that and that is small advantage I have living outside of Reds country. I usually watch the other teams broadcast and most of them are better. The Cardinals are one exception. Maybe someday the Reds will finally wise up and part ways with him. But I'm afraid they won't until Dad is gone and that may still be a while yet. Where for art thou George Grande.....??????
