Hopefully it's just a few days. Ervin has been hitting well though.

Dubito Ergo Cogito Ergo Sum.
I'd like to see the Reds use this opportunity to give Scooter some reps in the outfield and Dilson more playing time.

While I am not happy Schebler is injured, I am thrilled that the Reds didn't waste time putting him on the DL and bringing up someone so they can play with a full roster.

I just don't think these type of ideas work well in real life.
Scooter might be brought next year, maybe not. After 2019, isn't he a free agent (ie gone?)
He's really producing where he is, it is not really reasonable to ask him to play OF for a week or two, especially when it is just to give Herrera (a long shot) some playing time.
This reminds me of the talk about moving Votto to LF to accommodate Alonso, except Alonso was a much more promising prospect at the time.
Also, the plan seems to be to use Senzel as the long term 2b anyhow.
Scooter is not a long term solution, he's one of the top 3 hitters this year. Don't jerk him around.
Herrera has had injury problems, he passed through waviers unclaimed over the winter. He's not a high value player at this point. A week or two of Herrera playing great (if he does play great) doesn't really change much.. And honestly, Blandino has passed Herrera on the depth chart anyhow.
As harsh as this sounds, Herrera is chaff unless he proves otherwise. Sure, it's hard to prove that when he has limited playing time, but you got to play the odds.
[Phil ] Castellini celebrated the team's farm system and noted the team had promising prospects who would one day be great Reds -- and then joke then they'd be ex-Reds, saying "of course we're going to lose them". #SellTheTeamBob

I'd go off the board and add Gabby Guerrero. Ervin and Dixon have been hot, but Guerrero has been consistent all season. He's a better defender and a better candidate for the position. Maybe there will be more than one open spot by Friday's game.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!
