Re: Marty: Reds should keep Riggleman

I feel like Bryan Price was operating in the malaise of “it’s a rebuild, this season doesn’t even matter, there’s nothing wrong with high draft picks, we’re hit by injuries and running out there minor leaguers who aren’t ready” ...
When he was fired and Riggleman installed, the attitude seemed to change in the front office too. Injured starters came back and the lineup started to click. Matt Harvey created a big-time buzz, and actually helped the rotation, and Scooter wasn’t a fluke. Only part of that was Riggleman.

I still wonder what he was doing or not doing as a bench coach.

As a casual fan who only has time to watch the Reds on occasion. Early on it seemed like the players under Price were just going through the motions. Under Riggleman it seems they are playing harder and with a purpose.

Yep, that's the only thing that really scares me on Riggleman.

I think the Reds should keep Pete Mackanin.

The start to the season ensured the team would be playing a lot of zero-pressure games this season.

Bad way to judge a team or a manager.

Re: Marty: Reds should keep Riggleman

I'm not sure how to judge Riggleman but my sense is that he has a plan --- which I never felt was the case from Price -- his bunting bothers me sometimes.

I've normally been of the opinion that managers cost more games with bad moves than they win games with good moves -- so the object should be to find a manager that won't cause too many loses.
The older I get - the better I was

and yes - I hate the Cardinals (Reds fan since 1958)

    I miss Raisor

When the alternative was Price as manager forever then sure keep Riggleman around.
