2018/2019 Reds Prospect Poll Prospect #1

It's December, so time to do our annual poll of prospects.

    Some lists/resources:

Doug's list: http://redsminorleagues.com/tag/2019...prospect-list/ (broken down into sections)

    Sickel's Top 20: https://www.minorleagueball.com/2018...pects-for-2019

Let me know of you have another source that should be listed.

Group of Candidates for first poll (in Alpha order). As last year, if you vote for "Other", I'll add their name to the poll.

Hunter Greene (19) - 1st round pick (2nd overall) in 2017 draft. 4.48 ERA in 68 innings. 89K's 23 walks. 14.63 in April significantly better after that.
    Jonathan India - (21) 1st round pick (5th overall) in 2018 draft. .240 avg, .380 OBP, .814 OPS over 3 levels in 2018.
Tony Santillan (21) - Drafted 2nd round of 2015 Draft. 3.08 ERA 134/38 K to walks in 2 levels ending in AA
Nick Senzel (23) - 1st round pick (2nd overall) in 2016 draft. in 44 games at AAA batted .310, .378 OBP and .887 OPS. Lost time due to injuries.
    Taylor Trammel (21) - Competitive A Draft (#35 overall) in 2016. .277 .375 OBP and .781 OPS in High A.
The lowest acceptable payroll amount for ownership to show they are not greedy pigs is 15 million more than they are currently paying. No matter what that currently is.

Yeah, #2 should be a bit more contested
99% of all numbers only tell 33% of the story so when looking at the numbers remember that numbers is plural...

Thanks for starting this, Jax, and for the useful listings. Since most of the names are out there (via the lists), three others come quickly to mind who should be under general consideration (not suggesting them for the top five): Ibandel Isabel, Rylan Thomas, and Drew Mount.

Though he's got no chance of winning, I picked Taylor Trammell.

First off, had he gone to college, 2019 would be his draft season. I feel comfortable in saying he would annihilate college competition.

He handled the FSL exceptionally well for a 20 year-old. His BA and OB skills should translate all the way up the ladder. He's got very good wheels. It's just a matter of his power showing up. I have high confidence on that front. I think he's going to fill up stat lines. I think he can be very Christian Yelich. Not necessarily MVP Yelich, but he can be that sort of all-around player.

Nothing against Senzel, but I'm guessing Trammell has the better career. The vertigo plays into it a bit.

I voted for Hunter Greene because I'm having ridiculous visions of his upside. It may be telling that the only other person to vote for him so far uses Senzel's name in his handle.

He is a once in a generation talent who is a pitcher. He started to dominate after a slow start. I believe if not for the injury, this may be closer. This is not a knock on Senzel, it is just how special I expect Greene to be.

I agree completely. I like Senzel and expect him to be a very good player, but Hunter could be very special. I don't know that he will be, but the potential is there in ways I don't see for anyone else in the system.

I will carry the torch for Beltre again this year.

No excuse for not making the top 50 last year.

I voted Senzel as I believe he is the most MLB ready, but Greene intrigues me more.

Doug says Beltre's biggest issue is that despite being a big dude, he hits everything on the ground. If he could hit more line drives he'd fly up the charts.
