But the Reds are 52-68 and Harvey is a free agent after this year's World Series, and he can only hope to be that guy again too. Letting him polish his offseason resume at the expense of seeing what you might have in these guys is the height of foolishness. Which is exactly why I expect the Reds will grant your wish and finish out the season with Harvey in the rotation. At which point, assuming he doesn't collapse in the next several weeks (no sure thing), he'll probably then sign with a team like the Giants or Angels and the Reds will have accomplished nothing.

Turns out letting Billy go for nothing after missing multiple opportunities to trade him was, in fact, the real height of foolishness. But it was silly not to flip Harvey, even if just for a scratch-off. I just never understood convincing yourself this wasn't going to be the most likely outcome.
