Sure glad the Reds didn't bite at that. With money like that flying around, I doubt we were ever on the same page.

Turns out letting Billy go for nothing after missing multiple opportunities to trade him was, in fact, the real height of foolishness. But it was silly not to flip Harvey, even if just for a scratch-off. I just never understood convincing yourself this wasn't going to be the most likely outcome.
Yeah I shouted into the void enough when it happened, didn’t think it was necessary to spike the football on myself.
What would you say.....ya do here?

I would have like him for that deal. 11 Million base and you hope he reaches his incentives for extra 3.

Good for him. I wish him much success in his career.

Maybe if he hits the incentives, the $14M is in line. I think will be able to add someone as good (or better).

His stats will be affected by being in the American League. I wonder if the larger lifestyle in Cali will send the Dark Knight back to his old NY City nightlife habits. Ok. whatever... let's move forward and get pitching!

This is a perfect deal for them and him. Harvey has another prove it year after rebounding a bit with the Reds and regaining velocity.
He isn't locked into a long deal, so if he has a really solid year, he may get that 5-6 year $80-100 million deal he's hoping for.
He has to really rebound to get that. But if he returns to a semblance of his ace form next year, the last thing he wants is to be locked into a 3 year deal that ends when he's 32. No way he gets a the same big deal at that age.

They are like basically the same pitcher, folks.

Anyone who follows baseball knows that including Harvey's 2016 and 2017, when he was injured and recovering from his injury, to be grossly disingenuous.
Yeah, basically the same guy. Once we got Roark, we didn't need two of 'em.

Unfortunately I see Harvey having a good year and 75 will use it to gloat.

Agree, he might, but this still seems pricey. Matt’s still a pitcher on the comeback trail. So even if he has a great year, I can’t blame the Reds for not competing with a possible $14 million deal.

Also, I know some disagree, but this one-year pitcher thing makes zero sense to me for the Reds. Ok, Roark cost very little, but at this point I hope they are looking at longer-term solutions.

Lol, no need to worry, I’m already on record liking Roark better. I actually don’t think Harvey is a good fit for the Reds, too HR prone.

I find it funny comparing a contract of a FA pitcher vs a guy on the arbitration contract. Arb guys never get what they would get as a FA.

11 Million is quite in line for a guy like Harvey especially for 1 year usually you will get a higher per year on a one year contract less club risk.
Top pitchers are getting 30+ Million per year. 11M really is not much for a starter it is back end rotation money a #4 starter.

Speaking of homer prone Tanner Rainey's straight fastball seems very homer prone he gave up 4 home runs in only 7 innings as a Red, He also allowed 13 hits 12 walks and 19 earned runs, 24.43 era. At 26 on Christmas day , not sure how great a prospect he is at this point.
