    From Rosenthal Twitter:

#Brewers in agreement with free-agent catcher Yasmani Grandal on a one-year contract, sources tell The Athletic.

On one of the local DC stations this morning they reported that Bryce Harper was likely now to sign back with the Nationals.

If this does happen...I wonder if Adam Eaton could be had. Not sure if he could play a feasible CF in GABP at this point, but if he could, he would be a nice Choo like pickup.

Harper or not, looks like you can forget about the Gennett-Eaton swap.

Free agent second baseman Brian Dozier is in agreement with the Washington Nationals on a one-year, $9 million deal, league sources tell ESPN.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

I don’t think the Reds have ever wanted to trade Scoot.

LeMahieu is still out there, not the year to be a free agent 2B as there are a lot of options.

Agreed. I think they would have if the right deal was there, but if Senzel takes to CF, I suspect we can see a 3-4 year extension before the end of spring training now.

Not sure about that. This is Senzel's break-in year, Reds can stay loose with his defensive position. But I think they'd like him in the infield eventually. There's a chance Reds will keep Scooter for 2019 and then hand second base to Nick. Seems like a logical solution to the problem.

@jeffpassan: The Milwaukee Brewers did their best work last January, and they’re following the same pattern this year. First came yesterday’s surprise signing of catcher Yasmani Grandal, and now the Brewers are in heavy pursuit of an infielder to play second or third base, sources tell ESPN.
Think they may have some seller's remorse from trading away Scooter? I'd be interested in Brandon Woodruff.

Depending on who said it, I'd take that with a grain of salt - most of the local DC sportscasters don't know zilch about baseball comings and goings.

    More versatility for the Mets

Or more of why the GM pick was quite the gamble, and will either be a mad genius or a dumpster fire.
