    Can't wait to watch!

I was 7 years old in 1970 when the Reds won the first 70 out of 100 games. I remember 1971 off season crying when they included one of my favorite players the Big Bopper from Birmingham Lee May, Tommy Helms & Jimmy Stewart in a trade for Joe Morgan, Cesar Geronimo, Jack Billingham and Denis Menke. I changed my favorite player to Dave Concepcion.

Little did I know how spoiled I was growing up with the Big Red Machine and how precious the next 6 years would be.

1970 wasn't my first year as a fan, but it was the year that made me one forever. My favortite Red's team. The Reds crowded outfield could use a platoon like Bernie Carbo and Hal McRae. In fact, if I had to compare Jesse Winker to any Red's player, it would probably be Bernie Carbo. Can't field or run, but is an elite bat. Carbo would have been one had he stayed away from the drugs IMO.

I too hated the trade of May and Helms. Glad I was wrong about that one.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

I was actually a fan in 1968. Still have my Baseball card collection that started in 1968. I like my 1968 Bench rookie card but love my 1969 Bench Rookie card. I have a lot of nice cards from those years. I was lucky that during the years I was collecting my dad remembered his card collection was still at his moms house. It was just a small shoe box of cards but luck for me they were 1948 and 1949 Bowman baseball cards. I still have them.

In new interviews, Hall of Famers Reggie Jackson and Tony Perez, 17-time All-Star Pete Rose, award-winning broadcaster and former Reds announcer Al Michaels, Basketball Hall of Fame coach and Ohio native Bobby Knight, award-winning broadcaster Brent Musburger, and country music superstar and fellow Oklahoma native Toby Keith each describe their friendships with Bench, his dominance as a player, and the star power that made him famous both on the field and in pop culture.

Hopefully they show clips from his Hee Haw appearance.
When I see the 2016 Reds, I see a 100 loss team and no direction.

I wasn't around for that, but nearly everyone that I know that was says that the 1970 team may have been the best in the whole BRM era. Stinks the pitching got hurt.

I would disagree with those people. A BRM team without Joe Morgan couldn't have been the best of that run.

Re: MLB Network To Feature Johnny Bench

Thanks for the heads up on this. I've actually decided to record every one of these MLB Network episodes, and I've now watched two of them (Eckersley and Gwynn). I must say they are very well done. Definitely looking forward to the Bench episode coming up.

I was setting the DVR tonight for this, and there is a 1 hour special Wed night following Bench on the 1990/nasty boys team. Maybe this is a repeat, but wanted to give everyone a heads up....

    They will. https://www.mlb.com/reds/news/johnny...lm/c-303247850

Also shown was Bench's panache as an entertainer who hosted his own talk show with Michaels and often appeared as a guest on television shows like "The Tonight Show" with Johnny Carson, "Hee Haw" and USO tours around the world with Bob Hope. One spoiler alert -- there was no mention of one of Bench's signature television show he hosted, "The Baseball Bunch." It wound up on the cutting-room floor because of time and pacing concerns, Ferraiolo said.
