I think the language barrier means that he doesn't have the skill to talk in politically correct terms. I find this refreshing

I think we're putting the cart before the horse here - Puig too. WHat's going to happen if he doesn't perform as well as expected? If he doesn't run out a ground ball or loafs after a ball in the OF? How is he going to take being booed? So far he's saying and doing all the right things. Maybe the city will take him to their bosom like they did with Brandon Phillips. But it's a long season. A lot of things can happen. I'm happy to see he wants to stay here but he may just change his mind for numerous reasons.

Puig already tipped his hand. "Give me the money and you can name the years."??? Of course, how much money? But if I were the Reds I would take a chance here and see how much, or how little, Puig thinks "the money" is.if it isn't outer space kinda cash, I would try to get him for four or five years.

Puig was a little extra nutty, IMHO, because he played in LA-LA Land. He is an Eric Davis sort of personality....

    6 years, $80M

I think $80M is Puig's number right now. In August, it might be $125M...

    Or $55M.

I like Puig myself but I don’t know if I’d want to extend him for a long time.

My fear is him being and Wood being one year rentals, not making the playoffs, and Jeter Downs having a Didi Gregorius type rise

So wait, let me get this straight, you were all excited about the Dodgers trade, but now you have all decided we need to dump Kemp, as he is worthless, you don't want to extend Puig, and you have written Wood off as a 1 year rental? Then why was the trade so exciting?

Jeter will be moved to 2B which the reds had 4 guys ahead of him at the time he was traded. i think he could have a solid career but I'm not bothered by him being the top piece in that trade. As for Puig, I would not go over 6 years. I'd like it if they gave him a 4 or 5 year deal depending on the $$$.
The television crews left and about 10 reporters remained in the room. That's when Price took his turn doing the talking.
What followed was a five-minute, 34-second expletive-filled tirade. The final tally was 77 uses of the "F" word or a variant and 11 uses of a vulgar term for feces (two bovine, one equine).

Sounds like he is going to want top $$$ and he's in a great position to have a strong season so I can't imagine he would be willing to sign an extension right now and I'm not sure it would be smart of the Reds to do that either. There are still plenty of question marks with him and how he fits in the locker room given the problems they had in LA. Lets play 50 games and see where we stand first. I just doesn't make sense for either side at this point IMO.

Homer is not a Red in 2019...Puig, Kemp, and Wood are.

Because this one year is gonna rule lol

I mean I’d try to extend Wood myself. I’d probably extend Puig for like 3 years but I wouldn’t want to go beyond that.
