Predict the end of the year Reds Top 10 Prospects

I’m bored on this otherwise idle Saturday, waiting for some trade news. So, what will the Reds Top 10 Prospects list look like next offseason?

    1. Trammell OF (top 10)
    2. Greene RHP (top 20)
    3. Santillan RHP (top 40)
    4. (2019 #7 overall pick) (top 100)
    5. Stephenson C (top 100)
    6. Gutierrez RHP
    7. Siri CF (the most volatile name on the list, he could be #3 or off the radar by year end)
    8. Garcia SS
    9. Siani CF
    10. Hernandez SS

Senzel graduated, India traded by year end (even if not for Realmuto this week). I don’t see either Friedl or Fairchild as more than a 4th OF.

Re: Predict the end of the year Reds Top 10 Prospects

    1. Hunter Greene, AA
Makes a gigantic leap forward in production, stays healthy, and jumps two levels. In everyone's top 10 by the end of the season. Begins to show generational talent.

    2. Taylor Trammell, AA
Solid production, but questions about position (LF or CF?) and arm keep him on the periphery of the top 15. Continues to show good OBP, speed, pop.

    3. Tony Santillan, AAA
Continues progression in limiting walks. Slight dip in K rate worrying for some. Lower end top 100 prospect.

    4. Jonathan India, A+
Will split time between 2B and 3B with some innings at SS as well. Will exhibit very good power/ patience, but questionable BA. Might get into bottom of top 100 rankings.

    5. Jose Siri, AAA
Puts together a solid season with an improved BB rate-- 7% by season's end. Continues to show Gold Glove level defensive capabilities in CF. Will move up at the halfway mark of the season to AAA and struggle slightly. Won't rank in top 100 prospects in all lists, but will be a solid 2.0+ WAR guy as early as 2020.

    6. Andrew Vaughn, low A (2019 #1 draft pick)
Vaughn will slide in the draft due to his positional inflexibility-- he's a 1B/ DH only. But his bat is special. Williams won't be able to resist it. Questions about Votto's future will begin soon thereafter, as Vaughn hits well when challenged with Dayton. Won't be ranked in many top 100 lists due to position, but he'll emerge as the best bat in the entire system by the end of the season.

    7. TJ Friedl, AA
Friedl has a history of hitting well in his second cup of coffee at each league. That will continue this season. He'll struggle a bit in AAA. I still get Chris Denorfia vibes from him. Really solid option as a fourth OF/ second division starter sitting in AAA. Won't be ranked in top 100 lists, but he'll be a great chip so that Williams might move on from more expensive options.

    8. Jose Garcia, High A
Garcia's second half proves to be his true talent level, at least this early. A 750 OPS with a decent OBP and some pop from a SS. Some will question his D, as he makes a few errors. More of a lottery ticket, but a solid prospect to have. The closest SS to the majors after Peraza.

    9. Vlad Gutierrez, AAA
Gutierrez pitches like he always has-- and ends up moved to the bullpen. His prospect status will take a hit, but he's on his way to being a shut-down reliever/ closer. Iglesias upside.

    10. Tyler Stephenson, AA
Stephenson takes a step backward, hitting for a lower BA than he's shown so far. Questions about his defensive home become legitimate.

Bautista and Marinan nearly make it, but they're too far away. Fidel Castro struggles in full-season ball, and Debby Santana show some promise. Gonzalez doesn't hit at all, Moss struggles with the jump to AA. Beltre teases with upside but puts up the same numbers he always has. Richardson and Heatherly can't find the strike zone. Nick Hanson becomes a hot pick amongst RedsZone posters for his combination of stuff and production.

By the end of the year, very little pitching emerges, but the hitting is pretty good.

Re: Predict the end of the year Reds Top 10 Prospects

    Greene
    Senzel
    Trammell
    Siani
    Gutierrez
    Stephenson
    Siri
    Friedl
Fidel Castro (book it. he's going to destroy Greeneville)
    Mariel Bautista

I just feel like India and Santillan will be traded, and that for some reason, Senzel will retain prospect eligibility, but lose the top spot due to Greene's dominance of the FSL.

Re: Predict the end of the year Reds Top 10 Prospects

    1. Trammell - power takes a step forward, close to top 5 in baseball
    2. Greene - Avoid UCL issues, continues to build off 2nd half of last season
    3. Stephenson - another healthy year and the bat takes a jump
    4. Santillan - his stuff follows up the improve control/command last year
    5. Bautista - takes off this year, the improvement in swinging strike rate from 2018, leads into some power gains in 2019
    6. Gutierrez - continues to perform and on the cusp of bigs
    7. India - solid yet unspectacular season
    8. Siani - continues to hit for avg with little pop, but combined with his defense makes him a legit prospect
    9. 2019 1st Rounder
    10. Rylan Thomas - continues to rake, this time in both A ball levels

    Dopped Off:
Siri - plate discipline shows no improvement, really exposed with taste of AAA

    6. Siani
    7. 1st round pick
    8. Gutierrez
    9. Friedl
    10. Marinan

Greene and Trammell are both in the top 10 of most lists, and the Top 7 are all borderline top 100 guys.

I'd like to remove Jose Lopez from my list.
And replace him with Shed Long.

    Okay, then, Fidel Castro.

I really hope I'm wrong, but I have a gut feeling Greene will be one of those "If only he hadn't gotten hurt" guys who will go down as one of the greatest prospects that never made it.. I don't know why I feel this way, but when I see an 18 year old kid who can throw over 100 mph I get a bit nervous about him..
