Media outlets are wondering what's wrong with OKC and trying to come up with excuses why they are losing. At least they all agree with me on what I've said for years...Westbrook's teams lose when he has a higher usage rate.
Nothing is wrong with OKC. The schedule has just caught up with them. They have been playing the harder games everyone else, other than Denver, had already played. They're even now and things will settle down for OKC.
Here are the games left each team has to play against teams in the playoff hunt:
Western Conference:
DEN 9
OKC 6
HOU 5
POR 5
LAC 4
SAS 3
GSW 3
UTA 2
Eastern Conference:
IND 8
DET 8
BKN 8
MIL 7
MIA 7
BOS 7
ORL 6
TOR 4
PHI 4

Harden already has 26 points in the first quarter, and it's not over yet.

Rockets up 15 on the Spurs at the half. The Spurs seem to always make a run on Houston late in the game. Stay tuned. Harden has 37. If Houston was up 15 with a minute to go, I might relax.

Harden scores 13 pts in 2-1/2 minutes to put HOU up 5 with 1-1/2 minutes to go.

Like clockwork, the Spurs make a run late. Harden with some downtown magic. Chris Paul with 4 free throws in the last minute. Houston rallies from a 100-94 deficit to win 109-105. Harden finishes with 61. I never count the Spurs out.
His best night of the year.

I love Lionel Hollins' comments last night...
To paraphrase:
"At the beginning of the year, most people didn't think LeBron could lead the Lakers to the playoffs this year. Then they are in 4th place early in the season and all of these unreasonable expectations rear up, he gets hurt, and then they can't win without him. But, even if they had all stayed healthy, he was never going to lead this group to the playoffs this season."
By the way, who has the worst overall record in the NBA over the last four years? The Lakers, and it's not even close. What have they got to show for all of this losing? Very little. The same problems they had this year trying to compete in the West, they will have next year, too, as Sacramento, Dallas and Minnesota will all be vastly improved, and that doesn't include Memphis and the 8 teams currently in the playoffs. I can't see any of them being worse next year, and I see them all being improved next season.

Hollins is doing a bit of revision there. Most everyone picked the Lakers to make the playoffs this year. I felt like I was being contrarian when I suggested they might not. If they had retained Lopez, Randle, Nance and Clarkson, they'd have had a much better chance.
Totally agreed they've assembled a mess. I don't blame New Orleans one bit for not being interested in the Lakers pile of young players for AD. Worst part is Magic and Pelinka seem clueless. They've got some money to spend, but they're almost sure to blow it.
I'm not a system player. I am a system.
