Not only that, but Senzel just signed on for new representation, didn't he? I would bet that he knew this would be what he would get when he decided to switch.

I'm not too worried about this. If this player has the type of career we all hope he has, no one will really remember this when it comes time to re-sign him to a long-term contract. Either way, he'll be positioned to drive a hard bargain with Williams et al.

He did. And yes, I’m sure he didn’t go into this new relationship blind.

Maybe they felt he wasn't ready yet for fulltime duty in CF, especially with the spring Schebler had.

Which is why it was never realistic they would install him as the CF when he never played there before this ST.

I’m more upset over Ervin. Lorenzen as the 5th OF is well have fun with that. I really do not like this new age baseball approach to roster construction. Lorenzen is a decent hitting pitcher but he’s not Wes Ferrell or Don Newcombe good enough to warrant being your 5th OF bench bat.

I’m sure the next 2-3 weeks he spends in AAA will resolve that issue.

Maybe it will, maybe it won't. Maybe he's not coming up that soon. Maybe he's not playing CF in the minors.

This whole Senzel demotion is deja vu. We went through this last year with Nick Senzel. He was going to be back in no time. People vowed he'd stick at SS. None of that happened.

Sending Senzel down confirms the Reds think small. They don't want to take any chances that Senzel can leave a year early. A forward thinking move would be to have him start in CF on Opening Day. Maybe he won't be the best CF in the world. I got news for you: Anyone they put out there is going to suffer in comparison to Billy Hamilton. A ball is going to go over Schebler's or Puig's head or fall in the gap where they just can't get it and people are going to say, "Billy would have had that." And they are right - he probably would. Eric Davis and Cesar Geronimo in their primes would suffer in comparison to Billy. It would happen to Senzel too. Is he all of a sudden become a great CF after two weeks in the minors? Why not keep the guy with the most upside?

    They were wrong.
I'm not good with the Twitter, but it seems that his AGENT is the one with the problem with it.

Does anyone have a quote from Senzel?

Agreed. Ervin has been phenomenal this spring. With Senzel, Winker, and Ervin you almost wonder if management was a year too late with the move for two veteran OFs.

Not saying the young guys wouldn't potentially bust but when you look around the league there are plenty of struggling young players that are being given their shot.

500 innings, or about May 1-7.

He might want to hit a little, and show he's healthy in all manner.
