Add Diaz, Lillie, and Finol so I can cast a ballot (all 3 will be in my 10)

    Done
The lowest acceptable payroll amount for ownership to show they are not greedy pigs is 15 million more than they are currently paying. No matter what that currently is.

He had a 2.93 ERA in 30 innings as a rookie in the AZL, then had a 12.00 ERA in 9 IP in Billings.
In his second year, he spent most of the time in instructionals then had a 5.82 ERA at Greeneville while striking out 11.4/9 in 38 innings.

I'm definitely counting on improvement from the kid, but he hasnt struggled that badly in a very SSS and he was our 3rd round pick 2 years ago.

    Absolutely this.
He was touted as one of the best LHP in his HS class before his stocked dropped a bit his senior year.
The Reds gave him $1,000,000--$300,000 over slot--to keep him from going to Alabama.

Once you hit the 20s in these rankings I think a combination of age/pedigree are the most important factors.

Now you can be even more shocked and appalled that the number keeps growing. He's got lousy control. Until he gets that tamed, I can't consider him a prospect of any sort.

His walking more than 9 per game was the killer for me.

    Meh, walks.

The guy the Reds nontendered and couldn't find a big league roster spot with 29 other clubs this winter is ranked 31.

Joel Kuhnel is an 11th round pick, 24 year old RP in A ball.
He has a 3.71 career ERA, a 1.32 career WHIP, and strikes out 8 per 9.

He has 15 votes and about as little going for him in his favor as I can even imagine for a prospect.
    I just don't get people's logic, I suppose.

OK, so here's my argument for Kuhnel: Doug has him in his top 25 prospects list. Fangraphs has him at #15 !! He's a guy who throws an amazing amount of strikes, touches 100 mph on his fastball and is a closer.

And he was 23 in A ball not 24.

MLB has him at 26. They note that he seems to have figured it out in 2018 and credits him with a 70 FB, 50 slider, 50 changeup, and 55 control. I think that qualifies him for a spot in the top 40.

As an aside, I don't think relief prospects get enough recognition on top prospect lists. They have become extremely important in today's game and are commanding high salaries.

    He's 24 now.

I understand he throws hard, but a RP with a 3.88 ERA and 1.31 WHIP doesn't inspire much hope in me.
His strikeout numbers were better last year but still nothing compared to Heatherly.
Herget, Hendrix, Zack Weiss and others all had far better numbers at similar levels.

I'm also surprised at how little love SanMartin is getting.

I wonder if people think the Yankees wouldn't have given up someone who's a legit prospect.

    Re: Reds 30-40 Prospect Poll

Not to harp against anyone's favorite rankings site but; fangraphs has Lantigua at 18 and we've yet to give him a single vote - they don't rank Moss at all we have him 16th. And mlbpipeline has Heatherly 12 and we've got him outside our top 30 - they don't even rank Hernandez in their top 30 and we have him 15th.

Lesson: Vote your conscience, not what these guys say.

On Heatherly my logic is he's got an active fatal flaw. Until he doesn't I don't much see the point in pretending he might have an upside.
