Fiers and his near 7 ERA with 3 perfect innings to start the game. Sounds about right.

The dugouts are different here. It’s like the guys in the dugout are just standing at field level, no nets, with their hands in their pockets basically.

It was a 1 hop throw from votto...maybe if it would of been straight to glove could of focused on the tag better instead of picking the ball clean then making tag...?

Exactly. A lot of catchers don't field that hop cleanly. After that, it's a split second guess as to whether the runner goes inside or outside. Two good throws, a good grab at the plate. Just fortunate, aggressive baserunning won this time.

Those of you who were catchers of any distinction. I was always taught to chuck your mask once the ball is in play. Tucker left it on. Is that the way guys are taught now? I wonder if he would have had a bit more peripheral vision if he'd taken it off.

I’d say 9 out of 10 catchers miss that tag. Tucker did everything right, Piscotty just out played him.

It might be a long night. Mahle is missing his spots and the lineup is gong to have to play small ball, and I'm not sure they can We shall see.
