Is is past time to drop Votto in the order?

He just looks so bad at the plate right now. That first inning at bat with Senzel at third was atrocious. With all the different lineups we’ve had I think dropping Joey to 7th would be best for him and the team. What says the board?

7th is just a rest stop on the way to 10th

Even his hit last night looked like an accident.

Yes, definitely. It is almost like Votto has the yips, he can't pull the trigger and take full cuts. He has to lead the league in check swings, half swings and what kind of swing was that, swings.

I'd rather have Iglesias in the 2 hole at least he'll put the ball in play.

Might need a week or two in the gulag they’re hiding Brandon Finnegan.

Iggy's OBA is only slightly ahead of Votto's, although neither one is elite.

Votto's OBA of .319 is still 5th on the team, but it's a poor list.

Do we need another Votto thread?

There was a shot of Bell's face after Votto failed to drive in Senzel in the first. You could almost tell that he wants to do it but "other" factors are preventing him from doing it.

There's more to life than OBP. I'd like to see some OPS and some base hits to drive in guys like Senzel. Votto's paltry RBI total is piss poor even for where he's hitting

Part of Votto's problem can be seen in his own words (and addressed in another thread about velocity http://www.redszone.com/forums/showt...eps-tightening )
    From the WAPO article..
“The challenging part isn’t necessarily the fastball; it’s more the secondary stuff,” Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto said. “Strikeouts come from fastballs, there’s no doubt about it. But from my experience, the gap [in velocity] between the two can be more of a challenge than the fastball itself.”
And Votto is hardly alone with this issue. 103 mph fastball, a 92 mph slider, a 87 mph curve then another 102 mph fastball.. That's tough on the old noodle to comprehend in real time..

Can you even remember the pain in your hand the first time you caught a real live fastball with your grandfather's old fielders glove? I remember.. I thought my hand was done for at the time.. lol

You're failing to connect this with his vision of flying over Westeros with the shadow of a dragon beneath him. Or maybe that was someone else.

Anyway, Votto will bat eighth as soon as they put him in the rotation.

    No.

He sees a lot of pitches, which has a positive trickle effect for the rest of the lineup and forces the opposing Starting Pitcher to work harder and show more stuff.

Those other factors are keeping O'Grady in Louisville.
