No kidding! Is that where you're from originally?

Edit: Ah, just saw your next post. It's funny though that you would happen to live in the same town as the only other Scottish person I've known. My understanding is that Prestonpans isn't exactly a burgeoning metropolis.

Wear gaudy colors, or avoid display. Lay a million eggs or give birth to one. The fittest shall survive, yet the unfit may live. Be like your ancestors or be different. We must repeat!

Yeah I’m from the next town down so didn’t move far and know the whole area really well. Small enough country but still some coincidence.

The Dutch women are certainly not holding back in their comments about the Americans.

Spitze gets a yellow card. I wonder what she said to the ref.

The story of the first half is this horrendous ref who seems to have placed a bet on the Netherlands.

First half over. U.S. looks livelier, almost scored twice, and had another 2-3 really good shots that required saves from the Dutch goalie. Dutch are working hard to pressure US but let’s see if they can sustain it for 90 minutes.
US team doesn’t use build up play through the midfield, they prefer long passes from the back line to the wings. Lots of these passes fail, which is predictable. At least they play at a high tempo so there is always another round of (usually hopeful at best) long balls forward. Dunn has the highest rate of successful passes.
When the wings get the ball, Rapinoe consistently provides good service. All the good chances run through her.
Tobin Heath is technically poor and ineffective on the right side, but at least she keeps the Dutch honest on her side.
I like the goalie, she is solid with her distribution and generally alert.
Morgan is a good striker but she is really whiny. So she fits the profile of a privileged striker perfectly.

Morgan goes down eagerly. You can’t kick an American woman like that!
Wins a penalty that Rapinoe dispatches. Game is probably over. US women have bragging rights (and you know they will use them).

Not at all. I appreciate their athleticism, in context. Just no emotional investment. Like most americans I only follow them at the WWC.

With Rapinoe off, Morgan is captain. And you know we all have a little captain Morgan in us.
