Re: Reds Grades at the Break

Votto D+ expected him to be much better
Senzel C hitting and defense is what I expected his baserunning has been less than expected his arm better than expected
Winker C Power is better than expected but the low OBP and higher K rate
Suarez D expect him to be much better
Puig C He is league average all around D better than expected Offense is a disappointment
Iglesias C He is a below average starting SS and that is what I expected
    Casali C
Barnhart D His bat has been disappointing. Framing has been better and solid defense
    Pereza D is for disappointed
    Ervin C+ Better plate discpline
Dietrich B Offense is a surprise but defense is what I expected
Farmer B Little better than expected
    Schebler F

Castillo B+ Walks and Endurance still concerns
    Grey B
Roark A pitched better than expected by a lot
    DeSclafani B
    Mahle B-
    Hughes C
    Hernandez D ERA too high
Garrett A- pitching like I had hoped still worried about injuries
Iglesias C pitching well with some hiccups
    Stephenson C+ like the progress
Peralta B- pitching better than expected thought we would not see him again
    Bowman B- nice surprise
    Lorenzen B better than expected

David Bell C- expected not much but still underwhelmed
Johnson A+ really like the changes in the pitching staff with their useage of pitches

Yet he's a been a below average shortstop as suggested in the quote. He's on track to have a 1.2 WAR/600 PA season is currently the 29th best shortstop in a group with at least 200 PAs.

I hope we get the typical huge second half from Votto, but the average grade for him in this thread so far is some major league kid glove stuff. Guarantee he would not give himself a C on a self-grade.

Castillo and Jose Iglesias both deserve A's.

Gray, Roark and Senzel with solid B's. Puig maybe a B- while trending up lately.

A C seems fair for Suarez. He has disappointed a bit based on his talent and potential but hasn't been bad.

Dietrich is the toughest guy on the roster to grade IMO. I'm not sure what he should be.

    Well since May 5th Peraza .250/.317/,378 for a .695 ops Iglesias .275/.303/.376 for a .679 ops

Not sure how you are getting 14th. According to Fangraphs he is 20 out of 25 qualified SS in ops
